The Ropes and Rails Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety of our guests, staff, jockeys and horses while in the area of the bridal path, track, and Paddock areas of Canterbury. The Ropes and Rails Attendant will ensure that each guest attending any event held at Canterbury Park is welcomed with the highest level of customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Initiates and practices the highest level of guest service by ensuring that new and returning guests are provided with an exceptional experience.
Engage in meaningful and personalized conversation while assisting customers in making informed choices regarding their Canterbury experience.
Embrace Canterbury Park's core values by having fun and conducting business the Canterbury way!
Ensure that guests are welcomed into a clean, safe and professional environment by taking ownership and having pride of the overall cleanliness of your work area.
Review and retain information from the Canterbury Post in order to support and promote all business units by communicating details of marketing promotions and upcoming events.
Keep guests at a safe distance from the bridal path and out of controlled areas.
Open ropes/rails for horses and riders as they are escorted onto the track.
Close ropes/rails once the outriders come back inside.
Accommodate company vehicles entering/exiting the track.
Observe horses closely and be prepared to react to rearing horses quickly.
Assist in enforcing outside food and beverage policy.
Ability to pay extreme attention to surrounding environment due to the safety sensitive part of the job.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Ability to interact with guests and co-workers in a professional manner.
Must be able to pass Canterbury Park's pre-employment screening which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
Ability to work a flexible schedule; including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as dictated by the event calendar.
