Job Overview:

The Seasonal Recruiter is responsible for generating applicant traffic by positioning Macy's as the employer of choice in their market. In this position they will have 3 objectives: 1) Maximize In-store and Off-site Hiring Events by driving excitement in the store and community and be a role model for our interview and selection process; 2) Ensure execution of Employment Basics by inspecting what is expected and 3) Champion our Seasonal Referral Process by working with the stores leadership team to build and maintain a culture that places the recruitment of talent as a priority to filling job opportunities within our stores.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Actively fill positions by setting being a role model for what is required to select, interview and hire the right candidate for the right job opportunity.

  • Leverage our conditional offer process to make immediate hires. Follow up to ensure application is received and candidate is scheduled for on-boarding. Solicit support from People Leaders to participate in mini hiring events, both in-store and off-site.

  • Leverage existing partnerships within the community to generate off-site hiring events (i.e. workforce centers, colleges, universities, etc.)

  • Network with our associate population to determine other talent pipelines within the community not yet being leveraged, while at the same time soliciting their support in getting referrals to apply to Macy's.

  • Work with National Employment Director to understand market opportunities available to attract quality candidates.

  • Generate excitement within the store around our seasonal referral incentive process. Communicate the incentive at store wide rallies and through one-on-one conversations. Track and communicate the success.

  • Ensure store maximizes all the employment resources (invited and future schedule, benched, phone hire process, etc.).

  • Provide insights to National Director of Employment on market challenges and make recommendations on steps Macy's should take to be competitive.

  • Understands the competition and what they are doing to attract talent. Seek out best practices.

  • Track results specific to recruitment efforts.

  • Respond to all appropriate client requests with a high sense of urgency

  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality



  • Preferred 2-3 years in a leadership role with strong interpersonal skills.

  • General knowledge of the labor market and the conditions that contribute to the hiring challenges.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as reports and manuals.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to quickly change priorities on a moment by moment basis.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee will need to stand for long periods of time, carry, lift and set up materials, up to 25 pounds.

Work Hours:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on position needs.

  • This position requires travel within the market area. No out of town travel required. Mileage reimbursement provided.
