Temporary positions are available in the Department of Public Works for the summer season (from May through August) approximately 40 hours per week (based on department needs and weather conditions). Hours are typically 7am - 3pm, but may vary based on division.
Positions are available in Street Operations, Traffic & Electrical, Parks, Forestry and Water.
The following are normal for the position but shall not be construed as exclusive or inclusive. Other related duties may be required and assigned. Responsibilities will vary based on division, but may include:
Maintain shrubs at municipal buildings
Assist Arborists with Forestry operations
Assist street crews with projects and repair work
Indoor facility maintenance
Traffic & Electrical Division
Assist with barricade and sign installation for parades/runs/walks/civic events
Dismantle/recycle knocked down utilities
Assist with setting of new light poles, sign post installations and general maintenance
Hydrant painting and inspection
Valve operations and curb stop work
Assist maintenance staff as needed with landscaping and cleaning of cold storage area
A minimum of 18 years of age.
Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Ability to perform manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Receives direction and supervision from the division superintendent, supervisor or others as directed by management.
The position is scheduled to close on 3/20/19, but may be removed sooner, once the hiring needs of the City had been met.
