Under general supervision, this position functions as a front-line provider of services in the maintenance of the Town's parks, trails, open space, and urban forestry areas.

Assists with day-to-day labor services and maintenance in any combination of the following areas: general maintenance, horticulture, turfgrass, athletic operations, mowing, irrigation, trails, open space, and trees and shrubs.
Assists with set up, tear down, and general custodial duties for special events.
Operates and maintains assigned equipment; makes minor mechanical adjustments of the same.
Assists with snow removal of sidewalks as needed.
Complies with all organizational values, policies, and procedures.
Works flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.
Employment Standards
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Ability to perform assigned work independently and with direction.
Ability to adhere to all applicable work safety rules, procedures and equipment operations as presented.
Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions and report operations both verbally and in written form.
Ability to operate small/light equipment, such as power tools.
Ability to operate heavy equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other staff and the general public.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
Additional Information
Full pay range is: $15.75/hr. - $21.99/hr.
This position is flexible as far as schedule but will require a minimum of 20 hours a week.
Anticipated Start Date: April 8, 2024
Anticipated Season Length: April 8, 2024-October 4, 2024

Working Conditions

Tools & Equipment
Requires frequent use of hand tools, various electric and gas-operated tools and equipment used for maintenance including, but not limited to a pick-up truck, water truck, tractors and implements, mowers, trimmers, brush chipper, rototiller, chain saws, pesticide and fertilizer application and mixing tools, backpack sprayers, paint sprayers, trenchers, and snow removal equipment.
Physical Demands
Requires regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, handling, feeling, pinching, gripping, or operating objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, balancing, or climbing a ladder. Requires reaching overhead with hands and arms. Requires strenuous physical activity. The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift, or carry up to one hundred (100) pounds with assistance. Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus, allowing a broad field of vision.
Environment
Work is frequently performed in and outdoors with varying temperatures and conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places. The employee will consistently encounter fumes, odors, and dusts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and humid conditions, extreme heat, extreme cold, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, mists, pesticides, bodily fluids and other biohazards, dead and/or decaying animal carcasses. The noise level is moderate to loud, with frequent high levels and vibrations. The employee may encounter mechanical or electrical hazards.
