Salary: $15.00 Hourly

Position Overview:

Carrie Murray Nature Center is seeking responsible, enthusiastic individuals to lead weekday and weekend nature programs for children and adults. A Seasonal Naturalist ensures the safety and well-being of program participants and works with a team of fellow staff and volunteers. A positive, hard-working attitude is key, as is a fun-loving rapport with children. Genuine love of nature and an outdoor adventure spirit are also crucial to this role.

Overview of responsibilities:

  • Lead nature programs for children and adults

  • Facilitate engaging, safe, recreational experiences at Gwynns Falls Park

  • Manage and organize supplies, snacks, etc.

  • Assist with animal care, trail and garden maintenance, and other naturalist duties as needed

  • Demonstrate professional standards of communication, attitude, and appearance for all interactions with children, parents, and BCRP staff

  • No supervisory responsibility

Education and Experience

  • Must have completed at least 2 years of college or equivalent 2 years of related work experience

  • Experience working with children, especially outdoors

  • Strong interest in nature, environmental education, environmental sciences, outdoor education, or related field

  • Eager to learn new approaches and best practices in environmental education and teaching children

  • Eager to discover and interpret local natural history in all kinds of weather

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and references

  • Reliable transportation

  • Kind, humorous, considerate attitude always preferred!

  • Certifications: Pediatric First Aid/CPR from the American Red Cross or similar organization preferred.

Compensation

$15 hour. This is a part-time position with no benefits included.

Must be available for 25 hours/week, 30 plus hours during the summer.

VIEW JOBS 10/4/2022 12:00:00 AM 2023-01-02T00:00 <p>Class Description</p><p>A Plans &amp; Inspections Supervisor supervises and participates in the design of traffic plans for major transportation systems, events and facilities, authorizes plans, specifications and permits upon review for impact on traffic conditions, and develops and adjusts traffic signal timing plans. Work of this class involves supervising transportation associates, traffic investigators, drafting, operating and clerical personnel.</p><p>Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior.Employees in this class may work a five-day workweek including evenings, weekends and holidays on a rotating basis and be on24-hour on-call duty in emergencies or for special events. Work is performed in an office and on the street where exposure to traffic and inclement weather may be encountered. Work requires moderate physical exertion that includes standing and bending.</p><p>Selection Process</p><p>All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their applications will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. <br><br> It is essential, therefore, that you give complete and accurate information on your application. Vagueness or omission may prevent you from being considered for this position.Qualified candidates will not be listed in rank order.</p><p>Minimum Qualifications</p><p>On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:</p><p>EDUCATION:Have an associate degree in engineering technology, mathematics or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.</p><p>AND</p><p>EXPERIENCE:Have four years of experience performing traffic study data analysis, adjusting and implementing traffic signal timing utilizing traffic signal software, including two years of such lead responsibilities as assigning, reviewing and approving work of others.</p><p>OR</p><p>NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES):Have one year of additional experience in design of traffic control plans or the review of plans and specifications for impact on traffic patterns or in adjusting and implementing traffic signal timing utilizing traffic signal software or in installing, maintaining, repairing and testing a variety of complex traffic electronic control equipment, may be substituted for each year of the degree requirement.</p><p>Have bachelor's degree in civil engineering or mathematics from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in transportation engineering design work may be substituted for the experience requirement.</p><p>Supplemental Information</p><p>EXAMINATION PROCESS:</p><p>Applicants must provide sufficient information on their application to show that they meet the qualifications for this recruitment.
