SEASONAL GOLF CART ATTENDANT
Purpose of Position
Golf Attendant I staff are responsible for assisting Golf Department management and supervisory staff in the provision of quality golf activities and facilities which contribute to the physical, mental, social and emotional growth of the patrons.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required.
- Golf Attendant I positions include, but are not limited to: Bag Room Attendant I, Ranger I, Starter I, etc.
- Bag Room Attendants will provide service to the members and their guests in the area of setting up play, cleaning and storing clubs, cleaning and maintaining golf car fleet and maintaining practice facilities; keep golf carts, staging area and cart barn clean and organized; prepare golf carts for the day and maintain the proper rotation; review tee sheet and pull the bags that are in storage.
- Rangers will enforce the facilities pace of play policies, monitor the golf course and assist golfers with playing the course in the recommended allotted time; check and refill water coolers and cups; fill divots with sand; check the playability of the course each day; offer assistance to golfers as necessary.
- Starters will start groups off the first tee, check players for receipts and record all pertinent information about those groups, such as names, membership type, walking or riding, nine or eighteen holes, etc.; responsible for starting all groups at specified intervals and recording their pace of play after nine and eighteen holes; work in close contact with the Pro Shop to assure a smooth and orderly pace of play; educate the players on the pace of play guidelines; some rangering may be required to speed up slower groups.
- Be visible, friendly, outgoing and anticipate the needs of the members and their guests; promote an enjoyable experience.
- Report any golf cart problems or damage to a member of the Golf Department management.
- Maintain a lost-and-found collection.
- Answer customer inquiries; refer guest problems or complaints to Golf Department managers.
- Provide assistance to patrons by performing duties such as opening doors and carrying bags.
- Report and document safety hazards, potentially hazardous conditions, and unsafe practices and procedures.
- Actively look for ways to help people.
- Performs other related essential duties as required.
Minimum Training and Experience Required To Perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities (see specific position duties for further information).
Knowledge of the game of golf.
Special Requirements
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Applicant must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Possession of current First-Aid and CPR Certificate is preferred.
- Possess a valid Ohio Drivers License
Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to exert physical effort. Candidate must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. on occasion and stand and/or sit for long periods of time.
Mathematical Ability
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate decimals and percentages, and measure data.
Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication
- Ability to comprehend and correctly use a variety of informational documents.
- Ability to comprehend a variety of reference books and manuals including equipment maintenance manuals, policy manuals, safety manuals, codified ordinances, construction manuals, employee handbook, etc.
- Ability to accurately record and deliver information, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality of restricted information.
- Ability to perceive and discriminate colors, sounds, tastes, textures, odors and shapes.
- Ability to use independent judgment, common sense, and principles of influence and rational systems in the performance of tasks.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions, to respond immediately to crisis situations, and to balance priorities within and between offices/departments.
- Ability to maintain personal composure and tactfully handle difficult situations and interpret questions correctly; ability to behave in a friendly, understanding, helpful, and professional manner with clients, customers, coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, subordinate personnel, contractors, other Village personnel, and the general public verbally and in writing.
Environmental Adaptability
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment being exposed to varying and extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to work all types of hours, including early morning, evening and weekends as needed.
Pay Range
$14.35 to $17.94 per hour
