The Gift Shop Sales Attendant is responsible for assisting guests with sales in the gift shop by using best practices of sales and service. The Gift Shop Sales Attendant will ensure that each guest attending Canterbury Park is welcomed with the highest level of customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Initiates and practices the highest level of guest service by ensuring that new and returning guests are provided with an exceptional experience.
Engage in meaningful and personalized conversation while assisting customers in making informed choices regarding their Canterbury experience.
Embrace Canterbury's core values by having fun and conducting business the Canterbury way!
Ensure that guests are welcomed into a clean, safe and professional environment by taking ownership and having pride of the overall cleanliness of your work area.
Review and retain information from the Canterbury Post in order to support and promote all business units by communicating details of marketing promotions and upcoming events.
Understand customer needs by asking open-ended questions; Suggest additional items to build onto sales by utilizing effective selling techniques.
Explain product features and benefits in relation to the customer needs by providing in-depth knowledge; Maintain awareness of all current product as well as current promotions.
Set up and maintain professional appearance of displays for maximum sales appeal.
Observe shop inventory levels; restock as needed, report low total inventory for re-ordering, count and record month end inventory.
Supports all sales efforts and initiatives in order to maximize gift shop sales.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Previous customer service experience.
Previous money handling experience.
Ability to work a flexible schedule; including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as dictated by the event calendar.
Ability to interact with guests and co-workers in a highly collaborative environment.
Must be able to pass Canterbury Park's pre-employment screening which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
