This position is responsible for watering and weeding flower beds and newly planted trees throughout the City of Oshkosh. Watering consists of driving a pick-up truck with a water tank to location and using a pump and hose to water all flowers and trees for that day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Water annual and perennial plants in flower beds, pull weeds, pick up litter in flower beds. 80%
• Safely operate pickup truck and truck mounted water pump and hose throughout City. 20%
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical training in horticulture, landscape construction, forestry or grounds maintenance is preferred.

• Valid driver license.

• Ability to read and write, understand and follow oral and written instructions.

• Ability to conduct work in a safe manner in accordance with established safety rules and procedures.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Utility carts, grounds maintenance equipment including mowers and weed whips, power and hand tools, phone, and mobile or portable radio.

The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, talk, or hear. The employee may frequently be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift weights up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions in the field.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, cold and humid conditions and fumes.

The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy.
