The Seasonal Code Enforcement Officer enforces City Ordinances related to municipal codes specifically for grass, weeds and overgrowth. Conducts inspections and investigates complaints related to code enforcement. Gathers evidence and issues warnings and notices. This is a non-sworn position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conducts visual inspections in assigned areas of the City and investigates complaints reported by officials, City employees, or citizens. Assesses and addresses customer and community needs and concerns.
Prepares records and reports. Issues Warnings and Notices of Violation for violations of the City's nuisance codes.
Coordinates activities with other Code Enforcement Officers and the Code Enforcement Supervisor.
Prepares and documents violations. for court cases. Photographs the scene of violation, prepares narrative report concerning findings, and testifies as a witness or complainant in court.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
May be required to work weekends.
Performs other duties as assigned and required.
Education and Experience
Education: High School Education or GED completed
Work Experience: Minimum 1 year of customer service experience (high public contact)
Code enforcement/animal welfare/law enforcement experience preferred
Certifications and/or Licenses: None
Required Driver's License: Valid Colorado driver's license and a clear or acceptable MVR
Age Requirement: Must be 21 years of age or older
An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of:
Applications software for Windows environment, Microsoft Office preferred
Business language, grammar, and document formatting
Basic knowledge of
State and Federal Constitutional Law is helpful
Understanding of Search and Seizure Laws is helpful
Basic self defense is helpful
Spanish is helpful
Skills and Abilities
Must be a quick-learner to be able to:

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in the field and in a standard office environment. The employee is exposed to various weather conditions including wet, hot and cold conditions. Also exposed to various environmental conditions which may include unsanitary nuisance property conditions with excessive trash, litter, junk, sewage, animal waste, solvents, grease, oils and body fluids: excessive noise; slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
