Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Initial Phase of SEO Department

1.Perform keyword research in coordination with Liberty University's business objectives to optimize existing content and uncover new opportunities.

2.Provide recommendations and execute strategies for content development in coordination with SEO goals - general and keyword specific. Write SEO optimized content and review existing web content for relevancy, accuracy, optimization for specific keywords and ranking goals. Perform keyword research in coordination with Liberty University's business objectives for content development. Write effective call-to-action statements. Write original, powerful SEO content for program pages, degree pages, school pages, and other pages that may be developed in coordination with Liberty University's business objectives. When focusing on content creation, write an average of 5-6 unique and original pieces of content daily. Proofread and edit original content for spelling, grammar, syntax, and structure to be submitted to the Quality Assurance process. Copy, edit and proofread all material for online content. Enforce house style standards, including grammar, usage, and branding. Maintain, monitor, and use resources for fact-checking marketing statistics, claims, and all other relevant facts. Ensure there are no absolute statements in content (example, "this degree will…", "you will find a job….", and but not limited to "you will be more marketable…."). When focusing on copyedit and proofread, complete an average of 10-12 content pieces daily.

3.Keep pace with SEO, search engine, social media and internet marketing industry trends and developments.

4.Work closely with the other team members to meet Liberty University's goals.

Advanced Phase of SEO Department Development

1.Provide SEO analysis and recommendations in coordination with elements and structure of websites and web pages.

2.Administer search engine programs (XML sitemaps and webmaster tools) for purposes of diagnostic reporting on Liberty University's projects.

3.Help to create and support marketing content to socialize and use for social media purposes.

4.Implement link building campaigns in coordination with Liberty University's SEO goals.

5.Assist in development and execution of communication/content strategies via social communities in coordination with SEO goals.

6.Monitor and administer web analytics dashboards, reports and key reporting tools, and point out key areas of importance in accordance Liberty University's goals.

7.Communication to team and management on project development, timelines, and results.

8.Research and administer social media tools in support of Liberty University's social media strategy.

9.Monitor and administer web analytics dashboards, reports and key reporting tools, and point out key areas of importance in accordance Liberty University's goals.



  1. Monitor and evaluate search results and search performance across the major search channels.

Abilities and Competencies Essential to the Function of the Job

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

1.Three years plus experience using Google Ad Words, Bing, and Yahoo and Social Media campaign management platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.

2.Project Management experience.

3.Ability to multi-task across many functions of the organization.

4.Three years plus of demonstrable success in digital advertising campaign management.

5.Three years plus experience working closely with clients understanding their advertising and business goals and developing needs based digital strategies.

6.Experience supervising or managing a team of digital marketing professionals is a plus.

7.Solid knowledge of implementing tracking tags, third-party management tools, and publisher UIs.

8.Attention to detail is a must.

9.Interest in new technologies and the desire to expand skill set.



  1. Bachelor's degree in marketing related fields.

  2. Solid data analysis experience.

  3. Strong skills in Microsoft Excel.

  4. Master's Degree.

  5. Prior Management Experience.

  6. Broad understanding of university systems and tools.

  7. Sales/Customer Service experience required.
