Permanent Opportunity for a SE Managed Care Executive. You will be responsible for the development of new and retention and growth of existing regional managed care clients in NC, SC and Atlantic portion of GA..


  • Act as liaison for implementation of initiatives for national plan managed care clients

  • Provide oversight to insure contractual deliverables and service levels are met

  • Negotiate as appropriate with operational associates to arrive at cost-effective, client friendly solutions to service delivery issues

  • Establish, build and maintain positive, professional relationships at all decision levels within managed care client base

  • Reinforce our superiority as the national laboratory service, and information leader in the healthcare industry

  • Demonstrate value-added solutions using a professional consultative selling approach

  • Work in conjunction with the Regional Managers of Business Development to identify additional new business opportunities

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for assigned sales revenue retention

  • Provide field input for service enhancement and new service innovation

  • Communicate issues, concerns and problems in a solution oriented manner

  • Keep management and marketing appraised of competitive activity within assigned region/accounts

  • Provide management with timely reporting as required and requested


  • Minimum 3 years, successful account management or sales experience in the healthcare industry specializing in Managed Care

  • Demonstrable expertise with Excel and in developing value-focused Power Point sales presentations

  • Strong understanding of Managed Care Organizations and related internal structure, business focus/need and decision tree

  • Experience in contract and financial negotiation

  • Consultative sales experience calling on all levels within a managed care organization, director-level, operational department heads and end users.

  • History of building and maintaining strong positive business relationships

  • College degree or equivalent experience required

  • Must have a Valid Driver's License along with a clean driving record

Relocation candidates welcome!<br>??<br>Job Summary<br>Ensures appropriate planning and execution of each negotiation, and manages contracting staff to ensure appropriate contract rates and language are negotiated within established deadlines with yields that meet or exceed budget. Ensures health system maintains payor pricing parity and develops contracting strategy for the System, and ensures implementation of strategy through contracting activities.<br>??<br>??<br>Essential Functions<br>?????????????????? Reviews staff output including financial and operational evaluation, rates, and contract language for all managed care contracts. Mentors and develops staff skills and abilities.<br>?????????????????? Participates actively in system-wide major payor negotiation and participates in other negotiations on an as-needed basis.<br>?????????????????? Ensures appropriate contracting planning is completed and presented to MHR Management, including annual System Contracting Plan and individual negotiation plans.<br>?????????????????? Develops and maintains relationships with contracted Payors.<br>?????????????????? Maintains current working knowledge of all system contracts. Evaluate, recommend and oversee implementation of an on-line contract document management system.<br>?????????????????? Provides System with accurate and current managed care market intelligence by maintaining a working understanding of local, regional, and national trends. Conducts competitive market assessments, changes and impact of regulatory environment, changes and impact of payor initiatives and provide other information to support MHR reporting initiatives.<br>?????????????????? Communicates actively in managed care initiatives and results to appropriate audiences.<br>?????????????????? Develops and maintains cooperative internal working relationships to effectively evaluate and assess overall impact of contracting initiatives. Proactively work with MHR Contract Compliance to understand operational issues and the impact on contracting. Proactively work with MHR Performance Management to report and refine reporting of contract performance, analysis and modeling tools.<br>??<br>Education, Experience and Certifications Bachelors Degree required, Advanced degree, MBA or MHA preferred.<br>Seven years provider experience as a contract negotiator required; willing to consider ten years combined provider and/or payor experience as a contract negotiator.<br>Proven track record of closing negotiations on time and at or exceeding budget expectations.<br>Open to both Hospital and Managed Care Director of Contracting experience<br>Must have closed negotiations for a major payor/major system required<br>??
