Job Title: Scrum Master
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: Contract

Job Description:

Ensures meeting outcomes are defined, understood and achieved for the Scrum meetings
Applies facilitation techniques to ensure effectiveness of the Scrum meetings
Ensures candidate stories for the sprint are playable (estimated, sized, prioritized)
Partner with the Product Owner to prioritize and right-size stories in the Product Backlog
Facilitates the team's planning of the sprint based on prioritized stories, team capacity and historical velocity trends
Facilitates decision making based on Agile values and principles
Supply accurate project estimates and tightly manage project budget, approved funding, forecasts and actuals
Mitigates risks that may destabilize the team
Ensures visibility of current work in progress by the team (stories and defects)
Proactively anticipates, recognizes and detects items that may distract the team from completing the sprint
Ensures that the goals of the release and sprint are visible and understood by the team
Build and foster an environment of trust
Diagnose, understand, and facilitate team dynamics to optimize team performance
Provide solutions and continuous improvement opportunities to efficiently solve problems and provide critical thinking skills
Gain recognition as a trusted advisor / leader with customers and stakeholders at all levels of the organization across business and IT
Understand, apply, promote and contribute to Agile delivery methodologies, standards and tools
Experienced in handling multiple scrum teams in a distributive agile environment, across Geos
SAFe Certified
Insurance Domain Knowledge required (Good to Have)

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is an engineering discipline that combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. This position is for a Scrum Master that will guide both the team and the broader organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices leading the team to a higher level of Agile maturity. The Scrum Master is expected to provide leadership for the delivery of the service development backlog This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems. Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter. The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment. * First level Scrum Master certification i.e. Professional Scrum Master - PSM I or II or Certified Scrum Master - CSM * Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science/Engineering * Three years of experience in an large scale development and operations environment * Strong English language skills (verbal and written) are required for this position * Experience as a Scrum Master for at least two years working with a development team that was diligently applying Scrum * principles, practices, and theory. * Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency * Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach(example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc) * Must be able to communicate well with teams, larger practitioner community and thought leaders internally and externally * Ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, must be able to be a voice of reason and authority, make the tough calls * Attitude of Empowerment – Must be able to lead teams to self-organization * Attitude of Transparency – Must desire to bring disclosure and transparency to the business about development and grow business trust PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II or III) * Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc * Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous - Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games * Current certification or equivalent experience in any of the following technology areas: * VMware/ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platforms * Cisco Nexus IP switching * EMC ScaleIO or NetApp SolidFire storage platforms * Programming background (Python or Java preferred) When you work at JPMorgan Chase & Co., you're not just working at a global financial institution.
