The Scrum Master role fundamentally guides the scrum team by taking an active role in planning, facilitation and measures to help the team achieve its sprint goal. This role requires solid, practical experience with the techniques and approaches to guide, support and improve project teams. You will collaborate intensively with your team members and Product Owners. You will also interact with Cognizant clients to mentor, consult, and assist them in making appropriate process decisions and solve any blocking points.

Locations preference is Dallas, Chicago, NY/NJ but location in US is fairly flexible as all associates in this role are required to travel Monday - Thursday on a weekly basis to be with the client and Cognizant Associates.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the relevant scrum events with the Cognizant and the client's Product and Technical teams.

  • Partnering and supporting the product owner to guide the scrum team to success and maximize value of the product

  • Being the coach and driver of the requisite ALM tool for the scrum team

  • Guiding the team from legacy process to an Agile and Lean mindset, behavior and framework for building value

  • Optimizing how the different Scrum roles interact with each other to maximize productivity

Northrop Grumman's Operational Medicine Innovation Lab has been instantiated over the last 2 years developing various evolutionary prototypes to meet the operational medical needs of our deployed warfighters. The Innovation Lab provides members the opportunity to work on cutting edge technologies and support tasks across the development spectrum. The chosen candidate will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team developing analytical and decision support applications for Northrop Grumman's Healthcare systems. The candidate will perform the Scrum Master responsibilities for IT Scrum teams. In performing this role, you will be an Agile Coach to those teams, as well as perform coaching duties as warranted outside those teams. Roles and Responsibilities: * Facilitate Agile project methodology (Sprint Planning, Review, and Retrospectives; Daily Stand ups, Product Backlog Grooming, Scrum of Scrums, Product Owner Sync) * Relentlessly drive the removal of impediments to keep your team(s) moving. * Analyze and improve on relevant metrics for your teams and programs. * Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress within the agreed reporting framework * Lead product development teams in the delivery of business critical, enterprise software development projects to our production systems * Ensure the Scrum Framework is implemented effectively and provides coaching and training at the team level to maximize its benefits * Serve as an Agile educator as needed * Raise the level of your teams' Agile knowledge and discipline above current levels. * Support the Product Owner (e.g., assist with product backlog grooming, launch plan, internal/external communication, and others) * Provide support with risk management, release management, and facilitate release planning activities. * Maintain an in-depth knowledge of customer's lifecycles, standards, and supporting processes and practices * Support the development and execution plan to support the transformation to Agile methodology, including development of processes, templates, artifacts, training materials, and lessons-learned. Basic Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: * A Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field and a minimum of 5 years related technical experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. Or a Master's Degree in a related technical field and a minimum of 3 years related technical experience. * Strong knowledge of SAFe Agile principles * Minimum 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master * Scrum Master certified (CSM, PSM-I, or equivalent) * Works well as a team member in a high-stress, often time sensitive, unpredictable requirements environment. * Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate to management, peers and customers as well as demonstrate sound judgment/reasoning skills. * Must be a US Citizen-Clearance Level of Secret is required for this position Preferred Qualifications: * 5 years of experience in Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agile Coach roles * Experience leading an Agile transformation * Working knowledge of Agile tool sets such as JIRA or Agile Central Served as an Agile coach to a large project or senior management Other Agile certifications (PSPO, PMI-ACP, SAFe, etc.) * Experience with Agile embedded software teams * Experience with cross-discipline teams (software / systems / hardware) * Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies, i.e., Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping * Experience in consulting to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and/or the healthcare industry * Experience with the Theater Medical Information Program - Joint (TMIP-J) legacy systems including AHLTA-T, TC2, MCC, TMDS, MMM, DTRS, MSAT, TRAC2ES, DCAM * Experience with MHS Genesis * Active DHA Automated Data Processing/Information Technology (ADP/IT) I clearance * Experience with DoD C2 systems Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
