Purposes

This is a contract position that coordinates with a project team of solution managers, engineers, project managers, analysts, quality assurance engineers and designers throughout the organization to deliver high-quality solutions for customers and partners within the organization. This role interacts with customers, stakeholders, partners, and strategic vendors to ensure an excellent experience while delivering technical solutions.

This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the day-to-day technical project work of the team

  • Performs budget forecasts

  • Develops and executes project plans that ensures all deliverables are developed and released on time with the highest quality possible

  • Generates weekly reports complete with metrics showing the status of each project

  • Aligns and follows standard processes to assure quality and consistency of the product

  • Ensures IT risks (including security, compliance, business continuity, etc.) are identified and appropriately addressed

  • Addresses complex problems and effectively escalates them as necessary

  • Organize and facilitate daily stand-up, sprint planning, sprint review, sprint retrospectives, and backlog grooming sessions

  • Guide the scrum team in using Agile methodology and scrum practices

  • Guide team in estimating practices and facilitate team estimates

  • Establish a team velocity and cadence

  • Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution among team members

  • Helping the product owner and development team to achieve customer satisfaction

  • Guide the scrum and development teams in self-organization

  • Remove impediments and coach the scrum team on removing impediments

  • Resolve conflicts and issues that occur

  • Help the scrum team achieve higher levels of scrum maturity

  • Help manage multiple projects scope, schedule, and priority

  • Facilitates and drives the team toward continuous improvement, empowerment, and transparency using servant leadership skills.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience

Work Experience:

8+ years of Technical Project Management experience

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:

  • Prior experience on a scrum team

  • Ability to analyze and think quickly and to resolve conflict

  • Knowledgeable in techniques to fill in gaps in the scrum process

  • Experience with successful Agile techniques

  • Ability to work with and guide a team

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment

  • Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction

  • Strong, broad technology background with understanding of IT industry best practices for Project Management

  • Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining productive working relationships

  • Proven success in supporting multiple teams in complex matrix organization

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills

  • Strong project planning ability

  • This job operates in a professional office environment

Specific Degrees, Certifications, Licenses:

  • PMP or other project management certification recognized in specific industries required

  • Level one language

  • Scrum certifications required

Worthiness Qualification

Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.

This position utilizes solid knowledge, skills, and abilities with technology and programming languages to analyze, design, program, debug, test, modify, and write documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance of organization technology-related products, Internet applications, or information support systems. As a member of the broader software development group, the Software Development Engineer 3 works with minimal supervision and direction and is expected to utilize their experience, full understanding of industry practices, and knowledge of Church policies and procedures to exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solving problems of a diverse scope.
