Job Description
We are hiring at Starling Physicians, a VillageMD company!
A Medical Scribe assists the Provider during each patient encounter to ensure an adequate level of direct patient interaction is achieved. During the encounter, they are responsible for locating and obtaining a patient's medical history, documenting dictated notes during a patient visit on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), facilitating diagnostic test, all while providing unparalleled customer service to our patients.

Duties to include, not limited to; entering medical history, exam findings and treatment plan into the patient record as dictated by the physician. Review with the patient written instructions as indicated by the physician. Knowledge of performing Visual field and OCT preferred.
Key Accountabilities
Enter medical history, exam findings and treatment plan into the patient record as dictated by the physician.
Review with the patient written instructions as indicated by the physician.
Able to perform special ophthalmic testing - Visual field, OCT.
Assist the physician in the exam room with the patient.
Escort patients to check out.
Fills exam rooms for the physician.
Stock and prepare exam rooms daily.
Enter on the encounter form CPT codes and ICD-10 codes pertinent to the exam.
Assist with covering the front office booking appointments when not assigned to a physician.
Other duties assigned by the Practice Manager.
Relationships (Reports to, Supervises)
Reports to the Practice Manager.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, physicians, and the public.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Additional Skills & Requirements)
High School or equivalent degree required.
Must obtain certification once employed for 1 year and take exam offered by JCAHPO.
Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes.
Previous experience in a physician's practice required.
Excellent professional communication skills.
Ability to work effectively and professionally at all times.
Ability to work in a team or independently.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task.
Ability to be friendly, empathic and an adept communicator.
Must have neat, legible handwriting.
Maintain and renew certification as an Ophthalmic Scribe in accordance with the guidelines of the JCAHPO every 3 years.
Working Conditions, Physical Requirements
Requires sitting for long periods of time and working in office environment.
Some bending and stretching required.
Working under stress and use of telephone required.
Manual dexterity required for use of calculator and computer keyboard.
Incumbent may be required to work at any facility based on operation need, and schedule may vary.
Travel to various practice locations will require ability to drive, valid driver's license and use of own
reliable transportation.
Physical activity will include walking, standing, and sitting.
Physical demands may also include lifting and carrying equipment up to 30 lbs.
Other physical requirements include speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes; vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.; and good manual dexterity.
