Role Overview:
The Technical Services Division at The Indiana Department of Transportation is primarily responsible for providing technical and development support to assist in the agency's multimillion-dollar budget for the preventative maintenance and new construction of INDOT's infrastructure needs (i.e. roadways, bridges, culverts, mobility and traffic safety assets). Our mission-driven service team accomplishes this by overseeing the asset management and planning processes, ensuring we create and maintain a quality infrastructure for the State of Indiana. Indiana has recently been ranked #1 in the infrastructure category of CNBC's "Top States for Business" report and offers opportunities for advancement in engineering as well as other departments related to infrastructure.
As the Scoping Engineer you will be part of a team with your primary responsibility being the creation of engineering assessment reports including project estimates and the documentation needed to plan and develop future projects. You will consistently collaborate with various INDOT offices including asset engineers, project managers, designers, construction, and agency leaders while providing cooperative interaction between the public, transportation professionals, stakeholders, and decision-makers. This position provides a mix of office and field work that will include visiting project sites during the scoping phase and attending preliminary field checks on-site to provide technical support for the development of the project during design. As part of INDOT's technical services division, you will be a part of the preservation and planning process for various complex projects, optimizing the transportation system in the service provided for all taxpayers in Indiana.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $75,010.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

This position is located in INDOT's Vincennes District.
