Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

The Student Affairs Case Manager serves as one of four case managers for Student Care & Outreach (SCO). The position is a generalist position focusing on the broader mission of the office with time spent between general case management, research and assessment, general departmental outreach initiatives, and managing logistics related to the continued expansion of well-being programming, specifically suicide prevention and Support Dawgs trainings. The Case Manager reports to the Associate Director of SCO.

  • Experience planning or assisting with events.

  • Ability to work successfully individually and as a member of a team.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Experience in management of electronic database.

  • Proven ability in developing effective working relationships with university students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community.

  • Possess a strong work ethic and ability to be adaptable.

  • Be available to work flexible shifts, evenings and weekends, as needed.

Case Management for Student Care & Outreach

  • Serve as point of contact for inquiries to Student Care & Outreach (SCO); address and respond to referrals made to the SCO, including direct outreach to students, families, faculty, and staff.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners and stakeholders to provide comprehensive support services to students.

  • Provide resources and direct support to students in partnership with the Office of Student Financial Aid during emergency fund request processes.

  • Manage and draft communication related to Student Care & Outreach cases with students, families, faculty members, and external stakeholders.

  • Facilitate hardship withdrawal process on behalf of students of concern.

  • Assist with management and oversight of SCO records within the Advocate Symplicity electronic database, Ensure that records and data are maintained in accordance with University policies and federal and state regulations.

  • Generate ad hoc reports for Student Care & Outreach when requested.

Well-Being Outreach Initiatives

  • Assist the Director and the Community of Care Coordinators with suicide prevention programming

  • Coordinate requests for Support Dawgs trainings and manage logistics of the certificate program in the Involvement Network and the Professional Education Portal

  • Participate in and coordinate outreach efforts to internal and external stakeholders; identify potential campus and community partners.

  • Represent Student Care & Outreach at appropriate meetings and campus activities, as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Percentage of time 25 Duties/Responsibilities

Research, Assessment, and Policy Development

  • Research and disseminate information regarding higher education case management and support services for students; identify opportunities for future initiatives.

  • Review and interpret University policies and make recommendations when procedural changes are needed.

  • Assist with annual reporting requirements and ongoing assessment for Student Care & Outreach.

  • Utilize existing university data to identify opportunities for student and stakeholder outreach.
