Scientist/Engineer Semiconductor Laser Research

Be part of an exciting research team supporting ongoing research and development projects in the area of high-power, high-brightness semiconductor lasers, nonlinear optics and quantum information processing. The experienced individual will work closely with a diverse group of scientists and engineers from the Optoelectronic Technology Branch of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, OH.
The research will be to develop spectral and temporally diverse semiconductor lasers for sensors applications, from the near through long-wave infrared optical spectrum and encompasses design, fabrication, and characterization of enhanced nonlinear optical and gain materials, optoelectronic components and sensor processing products for communication, laser countermeasure, electronic warfare, quantum information processing and imaging applications.
Ph.D. degree in Physics (or equivalent) with applied optical lab experience, preferably followed by more than 1.5 years of research and development lab experience, or be working towards a related degree.
Experience in device characterization including VCSEL, VECSEL, QCL, photonic crystal lasers, or other semiconductor lasers is desired as well as experience utilizing semiconductor lasers for experimental and application based measurements.
Modeling of semiconductor lasers as well as the ability to analyze and engineer photonic integrated circuitry, device temporal and spectral characteristics over a variety of biases is desired.
Familiarity with standard laboratory software such as Lumerical, Matlab, National Instruments Labview, and OriginLab Origin is essential.
