We are seeking a Scientist to support formulation development in the Small Molecule Pharmaceutics group at Genentech. The primary responsibilities for this role extend from early clinical development to technology transfer to our late stage development group.

This person will be primarily responsible for formulation development of small molecules to facilitate fast-entry into human and the definition of market-image formulation/process, including transfer to late stage groups. The development activities should focus on establishing a sound understanding of how material properties can be controlled to ensure robust formulations are developed for clinical trials and commercial image by applying a science- and risk-based approach. Depending on the development opportunities and departmental needs, the candidate may also be involved in investigating alternative drug delivery approaches. The candidate will be responsible for carrying out laboratory experiments related to the primary area of responsibility and will also be involved in writing technical reports and CMC sections of the regulatory dossiers (INDs, IMPDs, NDAs etc.).

The successful candidate will represent the Pharmaceutics function in multidisciplinary project teams; he/she will need to work closely with team members in a cooperative fashion to ensure project progression and to communicate formulation strategy and related challenges. The individual also needs to work effectively with CMOs by providing technical oversight to ensure project timelines and technical deliverables are met.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Material Science or Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields with 2-6 years' experience with developing small molecule formulations. Familiarity with drug delivery technologies and alternate routes of administration would be a plus.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills. They must demonstrate the ability to plan, design, implement and analyze laboratory experimentation to advance projects and guide the formulation and process development, leading to robust manufacturing processes. Candidates must have a proven Date: 10/18/18 track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
