Job Description:

Seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to provide Project execution leadership to customer-funded projects and internal research efforts within the Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) segment of L3Harris Technologies.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for successfully leading the execution of a project team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments in a growing business area.

  • Develops, oversees and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects within the program guidelines defined by the Program Manager and customer.

  • Proactively addresses challenges by identifying strategies to recover schedule, build slack to meet customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports.

  • Works closely with Systems Engineering to manage and dispositions program-level risks.

  • Lead multidiscipline teams through the development, monitoring, and statusing of detailed MS Project schedules.

  • Effectively use Earned Value (EV) to guide the success of a project.

  • Work closely with Material Management, Operations and Quality organizations to ensure the success of a project.

  • Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors to ensure project staffing needs are met.

  • Support proposals for new work in a growing business.


  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of prior related experience, or a Master's degree with 10+ years of prior related experience or equivalent.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with best practices for Project Engineering, EVMS, and program execution.

  • Has managed the internal execution of the project through consistent use of cost and schedule techniques (e.g. EVMS)

  • Experienced with change management and risk tracking.

  • Experienced with program pursuit and proposal activities.

  • Experience managing projects with budgets of $100M+.

  • Experience leading a multi-disciplined team of engineers.

  • Experience across the product engineering lifecycle.

  • Experience in mentoring through a constant commitment to help other meet their full potential.

  • Experience supporting government customers

Comprehensive subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of Project Engineering and in-depth knowledge of project management.

  • Familiarity with space flight programs and standards delivering optical payloads.Experience in influencing changes to practices, processes and approaches to improve execution across an organization.

  • Experience in Root Cause Corrective Action process and techniques.

  • Ability to implement and adapt project execution plans that will achieve technical, cost, and schedule requirements in challenging environments.

  • Ability to communicate inside and outside of an organization at all levels.

  • Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
