Air Liquide R&D centers, hosting a wide range of competencies, support the Group in achieving the highest level of excellence in the technologies it provides to its customers. The Delaware Research and Technology Center (DRTC) in Newark, DE provides innovation and technical support to Air Liquide's businesses and markets in the Americas and worldwide.

The R&D Data Science group at Air Liquide has an opening for an Optimization Research Scientist. The researcher will have the opportunity to tackle challenging problems focusing on customers, patients and operations.
The researcher will also interact with multi-disciplinary teams composed of Business, IT and Digital resources that define operating models, and builds digital solutions.
Collaborate with the business to define needs and challenges, translate them into functional specifications, and develop solutions to address them.
Work with IT and external organizations to obtain data as needed. Clean, and analyze the data.
Develop solutions using methods including mathematical programming, metaheuristics, and stochastic optimization.
Test and verify the performance of solutions with prototypes.
Support the development of industrial tools and their deployment in the business units.
Train team members and the business, thus ensuring sustainability of the solutions for Air Liquide.
Publish research in internal reports, at conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
PhD in Operations Research, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
Experience in statistical analysis, machine learning, and discrete event simulation is a plus.
Strong programming skills. Experience with R, Python and AIMMS is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and international team.
