Calico is a research and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies to increase our understanding of the biology that controls lifespan. We will use that knowledge to devise interventions that enable people to lead longer and healthier lives. Executing on this mission will require an unprecedented level of interdisciplinary effort and a long-term focus for which funding is already in place.
Calico is inviting applications from scientists who are excited to join an interdisciplinary team dedicated to gaining a deeper understanding of the role of stress signaling pathways in disease and aging which will inform our drug development efforts. We are looking for a highly motivated and creative scientist who is trained as an experimentalist in the area of molecular or cellular biology and has gained extensive experience with statistical and analytic techniques necessary for integrating 'omics data. This position is for someone who excels at wet lab, designs complex experiments that integrate diverse information and utilize available resources to effectively answer biological question.
A Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, genomics, genetics or related science, plus a completed postdoc or 3+ years of work experience
The ideal candidate will have a strong record of productivity with impactful scientific publications and a track record of effective collaboration
Experience developing and/or applying cutting edge 'omic technologies such as ribosome profiling, bulk and single-cell RNA-seq and proteomics
Extensive data analytical skills including analysis of public data to identify dysregulated pathways as well as analysis of functional genomics (CRISPR/siRNA) screens
Must be capable of working independently but also be an effective team player and have excellent communication skills
