Scientist, Metabolic Engineering Product Development

We're looking for a metabolic engineer with product development and technology development experience to help advance the Tierra Protein Platform. You will need to wear multiple different technical hats, from strain engineering to DNA construction to cell-free metabolic engineering. Your ability to think critically, problem solve, and wear multiple hats will allow you to thrive in our dynamic start-up environment. Requirements

• Conduct product development to transition technology from bench-scale processes to manufacturing-scale processes.

• Lead the advancement of Tierra's strain and metabolic engineering.

• Lead the advancement of Tierra's DNA technologies.

• Build relationships and communicate directly with outside vendors and consultants.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in molecular or cell biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, or a related discipline, with 2+ years of industry experience; MS with 4+ years of industry experience will be considered, or BS with 8+ years of industry experience.

• Experience with platform development and technology transfer.

• Experience with microbial and/or cell-free metabolic/strain engineering.

• Experience with standard molecular biology protocols.

• Experience developing automated workflows.

• Ability to wear multiple hats, problem solve, and promote innovation within a fast-paced and cross-functional environment.

• Be highly motivated and results-oriented.

Nice-to-Have

• Extensive experience with development and/or metabolic engineering of cell-free protein synthesis platforms.

• Experience with programming languages, specifically Python.

• Experience with protein engineering techniques.

• Experience with next-generation sequencing technologies.
