The Biotherapeutics Development & Supply-Analytical Development (BTDS-AD) in Janssen is recruiting for a Scientist located in Malvern, PA. We discover and develop creative large molecule solutions to address significant unmet medical needs in oncology, immunology, neuroscience, infectious diseases and vaccines, and cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

The Analytical Development organization is continuing to build key scientific expertise in protein and vaccine characterization, and primary structure elucidation. We need a hardworking scientist willing to bring your expertise to exciting efforts in novel areas of protein characterization.

You will join the Primary Structure team within the Characterization group in the BTDS-AD department to conduct product characterization and process development activities. Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Operate state-of-the-art LC and MS instrumentation

  • Learn and utilize software packages for LCMS/protein analysis

  • Perform LCMS-based quantitation of post-translational modifications

  • Design and execute peptide mapping / MS experiments on monoclonal antibodies and proteins to assess sequence coverage and sites of modification

  • Contribute to IND, IMPD, BLA, and other regulatory filings

  • Develop/optimize assays, write protocols, reports

  • Coordinate testing to support analytical development, manufacturing process development, process validations, and manufacturing investigations

  • Lead or facilitate technical discussions and participate in cross-functional teams at project-related meetings

Qualifications

Looking for a result focused, hardworking individual who demonstrates excellent scientific knowledge and the highest standards. Do you love solving scientifically complicated problems? If so, you could be the person we are looking for. Additionally, you should have:

  • A Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field with 1~2 years of relevant industry experience, OR an MS with demonstrated ability is required

  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS characterization of proteins is required

  • Proficiency at developing, optimizing and trouble-shooting assays is preferred

  • Experience maintaining high quality documentation, analyzing and accurately interpreting data, and preparing reports, and SOPs is preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication and excellent social skills

  • A deep understanding and experience in the application of various GXP concepts is preferred

We are seeking to hire a highly energetic and collaborative, scientist to join our CAR-T analytical development team. Key Responsibilities: * Supporting CAR-T product development, serving as an analytical technical expert * Supporting methods development, qualification, validation and transfer activities, writing protocols, reports, and performing and coordinating testing to support manufacturing process development, process validations, and manufacturing investigations * Maintain laboratory notebooks and prepare written protocols and reports in a GMP compliant manner * Perform instrument IO/OQ/PQ, review logbooks and maintain general laboratory operations * Interface with QA and regulatory agencies during audits * Accurately capturing data in a timely manner, ensuring data integrity and protocol compliance * Shift work may be required Qualifications * Master's degree in biology, immunology or other relevant scientific field, with at least 10 years of relevant experience OR a Ph.D with at least 2 years of relevant experience. * Hands-on experience with CAR-T or other cell and gene therapy products is highly preferred. * Highly proficient with basic immunology techniques is required, must have extensive experience in cell-based bioassay, multi-color flow cytometry or PCR. * CMC experience preferred * Experience with analytical method development for a variety of cell-based bioassays, binding assays and/or residual impurity assays is preferred * Experience working in a cGMP environment is preferred Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
