Scientist, iPSC, Discovery Biology
Responsibilities
Generate in vitro cell-based model systems using pluripotent stem cells differentiated into cell types relevant to neurodegeneration, including neurons, microglia and astrocytes
Implement methods of genetic engineering in pluripotent stem cells for downstream applications in therapeutic screening and model development
Build novel iPSC-based assays using genetically encoded reporters to improve mechanistic understanding of how genetic risk factors influence biology in distinct cell types
Participate in the development of sophisticated in vitro model systems such as organoids and combination cultures
Work across interdisciplinary teams that are seeking to understand the basic biology of neurodegeneration
Perform experiments, make detailed scientific observations, analyze data, interpret and present results
Publication of work in collaboration with other scientists is encouraged
Requirements
PhD or M.S (+3 yrs relevant work experience) in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Neurobiology, or related field
Expertise in engineering iPSCs using CRISPR/Cas9 and/or lentiviral overexpression or other mechanisms
Experience in mammalian cell culture, including sophisticated culture models involving stem cell maintenance and multi-lineage differentiation
Experience with isolation, characterization, and culture of sorted cells, including use of FACS-based sorting techniques
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Some weekend work may be required
Desire to work in a highly collaborative environment
Salary Range: $000,000.00 - $000,000.00. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Salary Range: 93,760.00 to 100,905.00 . Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
