Scientist Intern Mass Spec

Location(s)

Waltham

Responsibilities:
Uses skilled scientific expertise and the scientific methods to execute research in Mass Spectrometry. Conducts scientific feasibility studies for Qsight applications.

  • Develops analytical methods and conducts experiments for limited-scale projects. Records data produced, and identifies issues and opportunities observed during research process. Knowledgeable in the science of Mass Spectrometry and general research procedures. Understands and uses basic statistical methods.

  • Records experimental results in authorized laboratory notebooks owned by the company. Initiates understanding of and demonstrates appreciation for intellectual property associated with project. Periodically reviews the contents of the laboratory notebook with project staff members and signs notebooks to verify understanding and accuracy of recorded results and intellectual property concepts.

  • Demonstrates innovation and original thinking in execution of research tasks for limited-scale projects.

  • Uses operating software and/or equipment required to support research for limited-scale projects. Maintains the software and equipment in proper working order and follows calibration procedures.

  • Understands project plans and schedules for limited-scale projects. Collaborates with other project staff to accomplish specific task/team objectives within overall schedule and cost targets. Accountable for meeting schedule milestones or for providing timely feedback when dates cannot be met. Understands core processes.

  • Authors project reports for limited-scale projects. Collaborates in project presentations or demonstrations to customers or management. Exhibits very good oral and written communication skills. Interacts with project team members and peers to anticipate and resolve day to day issues. May interact with other divisions, customers and suppliers on routine matters to achieve results.

  • Impacts business opportunities through successful completion of tasks and projects and through suggestions for improvement in products and processes.

  • Establishes scientific network and gains recognition in area of scientific competence.

Requirements:

  • In process toward Masters or Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related field

  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment

  • Very good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Very good team orientation
