AbbVie is investing heavily in a new research enterprise in Cambridge, Boston - the Foundational Neuroscience Center (FNC). The FNC will investigate the fundamental biological mechanisms underpinning neurodegenerative disease, especially Alzheimer's disease.
AbbVie is seeking an innovative, motivated Scientist with prior experience working in neurodegeneration disease models to join the In Vivo Pharmacology team at the FNC. This individual will be responsible for designing, executing and interpreting studies in animal models to support discovery and preclinical Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease projects.
Establish and utilize in vivo models to support Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease projects
Collaborate with key internal and external scientists to drive improved understanding of disease pathophysiology and target biology
Position will be hired based on level of experience.
BS in Neuroscience or related field with 5-7+ years of academic or industry research experience; MS with 2-5+ years of experience
Expert in vivo skills including rodent handling, dosing (iv, ip, po, etc) and tissue/fluid harvest
Prior experience doing surgery required; experience doing stereotaxic surgery highly preferred
Expertise in animal models of neurodegenerative disease-related models highly preferred
Experience with ex vivo assay techniques ( e.g. ELISAs, WB, qPCR) and/or histology/immunohistochemistry preferred
Outstanding organizational and critical thinking skills required
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to work across functions and across sites, and within academic and biotech collaborations
