Who is BlueRock?

BlueRock Therapeutics, a wholly-owned and independently operated subsidiary of Bayer AG, is a leading engineered cell therapy company using its unique cell+gene platform to direct cellular differentiation and genetically engineer cells to create a new generation of cellular medicines that address large patient populations suffering from neurological, cardiovascular, and immunology diseases.

The convergence of cell biology and genetic engineering is creating fundamental new ways to impact disease. Founded in 2016 to capitalize on these technological breakthroughs, we are advancing our novel cell+gene platform to develop, manufacture, and deliver an entirely new generation of authentic and engineered cell therapies across three therapeutic areas: neurology, cardiology, and immunology.

What Are We Doing?

Our foundational science harnesses the ability to create and then direct the differentiation of universal pluripotent stem cells into authentic, functional cells that can be used as allogeneic cellular therapies to treat a broad array of diseases. We can also further engineer these cells, enabling them to produce enzymes, antibodies, and other proteins for additional therapeutic benefit.

We are passionate about delivering on the promise of cellular and gene therapy, shaping the future of cellular medicine, and delivering new therapies to millions of patients with treatment options.

We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, thrive in a fun and dynamic culture, and are steadfast in the commitment to advance cutting-edge cellular therapies to impact patients lives.

Description of Position:

BlueRock Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our immunology team in Cambridge, MA. Reporting to the scientist leading programs for iPSC differentiation into hematopoietic lineages, this individual will have various responsibilities for hands-on lab work in the field of iPSC and immune cell technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to bringing a new class of cellular therapies to patients using our unique CELL+GENE platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision, develop cell-based assays and molecular tools to advance our immunology programs
  • Execute in vitro experiments to characterize and cultivate T cells
  • Assessment and analysis of T cells and function by multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA, gene expression analysis, and other cell and molecular techniques
  • Perform immune cell function and phenotypic assays (proliferation, differentiation, and exhaustion assays)
  • Responsible for designing studies, executing experiments, generating, and collecting data, and communicating the results effectively
  • Document experimental data in electronic laboratory notebooks in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the company quality management system
  • Attend and present data at lab meetings

  • Scientist II - BS 12+ / MS 11+ / PhD with 2-5 years industry exp. or relevant academic exp
  • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 is advantageous
  • Hands-on expertise with primary T cell cultures and assays (e.g., immune cell functional assays such as primary human immune cell co-culture, immune cell differentiation, and proliferation assays)
  • Experience with ELISA or similar assays is desired
  • Multi-color flow cytometry cell phenotyping experience is a must-have
  • Proven ability to work independently on assigned projects within a cross-functional team across multiple locations
  • Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Motivation to build a culture of innovation with aspirations to develop products that will change the lives of people with serious diseases, their families, and society
