As a Scientist III specializing in Biochemistry, you'll engage with intricate world of protein/enzyme systems. Your role will be pivotal in the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of protein reagents crucial to our cutting-edge sequencing technology. Expect to establish the downstream process for multiple classes of engineered proteins at various scales and characterize them with high-throughput screening methods, label proteins for detailed assessment, and collaborate seamlessly within a dynamic team to drive scientific innovation forward.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Purify and characterize proteins/enzymes across various bacterial expression scales.

  • Optimize and execute high throughput protein screening methods.

  • Label proteins and assess them using ensemble and single-molecule assays.

  • Prepare and conjugate peptides and protein libraries for single-molecule evaluation.

  • Characterize proteins and biological systems using biochemical and biophysical techniques.

  • Design, execute, and interpret protein activity assays for evaluation on HPLC, OCTET and Plate Reader platforms.

  • Report results to the scientific team and collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • M.S. scientist with 3+ years of industry or academic lab experience in Protein Biochemistry / Biophysics/ Biotechnology or related field.

  • Track record of thriving in fast-paced and technical environments.

  • Proficiency in preparatory to commercial scale expression and purification of proteins, including expertise in chromatography techniques (analytical HPLC, AKTA).

  • Ability to swiftly learn and adeptly set up and operate complex instrumentation and laboratory automation.

  • Capacity to strategically plan, execute, and evaluate multiple scientific strategies concurrently when appropriate.

  • Exemplary organizational, analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality results, overcoming challenges, and prioritizing execution.

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it's ok if you don't!):

  • Expertise in biochemical experimentation with enzymes.

  • Experience in quantitative Biochemical/Biophysical assays.

  • Proficiency in using computational techniques to analyze biological data.

  • Proficiency in preparatory to Lab to Pilot scale expression and purification of proteins, including expertise in chromatography techniques (analytical HPLC, AKTA).

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $82,000 - $120,000/annum. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual's skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
