Overview

This is a 1st shift position in Cherry Hill NJ.

Provide chemistry laboratory support and work with more senior R&D scientists performing duties such as, but not limited to, evaluating methods for transfer, analyzing samples, developing analytical methods and conducting pre-validation and validation studies. Responsibilities primarily involve working in the lab with moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

Operates, maintains, and is responsible for lab equipment.

Performs routine procedures in an efficient manner with minimal direction. Assists in the execution of non-routine experiments and procedures with supervision.

Understands and applies basic scientific principles and technology, and builds knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements.

Has the ability to correctly analyze and interpret the outcome of experiments.

Maintains proper records (notebooks, electronic records, study files, etc.) per relevant policies and procedures.

Assists in the review and approval of co-worker laboratory notebook entries.

Communicates own work orally and in writing, and demonstrates an aptitude for developing technical writing expertise.

Interfaces with enabling service teams such as Technical Services, Document Control, Quality Control Chemistry, and Environmental Health & Safety, regarding support needs and compliance requirements.

Maintains current technical and safety training.

Computer literacy, technical writing, and multi-tasking skills are required.

Requires basic understanding and proficiency in the use of analytical glassware, syringes, pipettes, balances and other instrumentation.

Understanding of lab techniques also required.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. Project planning techniques and use of project planning software, a plus.

Demonstrated proficiency with chromatographic, spectrophotometric and titrimetric instruments, especially HPLC, GC and volumetric/potentiometric titrations. Experience in basic pharmaceutical formulation concepts, analytical method development, research, and problem-solving.

Good communication skills, both oral and written.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry or closely related field and at least 5 years of pharmaceutical or related laboratory experience, or

Master's degree in chemistry or closely related field with 3 years of pharmaceutical or related laboratory experience, or

PhD. in chemistry or pharmaceutical science or closely related field.

The Analytical Research Scientist reviews and assesses analytical methods found in literature and provided in API supplier technical packages, performs analytical method development and validation activities, generates data in support of R&D formulation development work. Responsibilities * Demonstrate basic wet chemistry laboratory skills such as sample preparation, HPLC runs and processing chromatography data according to written methods in a cGMP analytical laboratory environment. * Demonstrate technical understanding of analytical method development activities. * Without assistance, review and assess analytical methods contained within API technical packages and work to develop internal analytical methods for specific API and drug products * Employ appropriate techniques and methods to successfully execute laboratory work and issue documents within negotiated deadlines. Documents to be issued include but are not limited to, protocol preparation, analytical development reports, laboratory investigations and analytical validation reports. * Use current methodologies to apply appropriate levels of statistical analysis to data generated, and ensure Quality by Design with in analytical development. * Conduct testing on routine/non-routine research and design experiments with minimal assistance in support of R&D formulation and process development work. * Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with company SOPs, USP/Ph Eur, FDA, GDP and cGMP regulation. Investigate deviations and write exception documents. * Make sound technical recommendations regarding analytical development issues and provide analysis of key experimental parameters. Independently select techniques and approaches to solve problems within the discipline of analytical chemistry and method development. * Maintain knowledge of relevant cGMP and safety requirements while building knowledge of other regulatory requirements related to R & D (product development, design and safety) to ensure compliance in all research, data collection and reporting activities. * Effectively contribute solid analytical knowledge to a variety of projects with minimal assistance to functional or small project teams. Qualifications * Demonstrated knowledge of analytical chemistry and analytical method development in a cGMP pharmaceutical environment. * Possess general wet chemistry laboratory/technical, writing and computer skills. * Ability to objectively assess, organize and clearly communicate complex information to management. * Interpret available information and make recommendations to resolve analytical challenges. * Appropriately prioritize assignments to meet project schedules. Self-motivated, strong interpersonal and problem solving skills. * Bachelors degree Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Pharmaceutical Sciences; a Masters Degree desired. * One to two (1-2) years of analytical method HPLC development, and general wet laboratory testing.
