This employee will report directly to the Manager, Inhalation Product Development


In this role, you will be independently conducting studies in support of the development of inhalation drug products, with focus on formulation and process development. The candidate should have strong understanding of formulation and production processes for combination drug products. Candidate also needs to have excellent problem solving and communication skills. Able to thrive in a team environment.

The Research Triangle Park (RTP) facility is Catalent's Center of Excellence for Analytical Services and is also home to Catalent's Inhalation franchise including product development, clinical and commercial manufacturing for pMDI, DPI and Nasal Sprays.

The Role

  • Supports the design and execution of experimentation focused on drug product formulations and manufacturing process (development and clinical).

  • Liaises regularly with internal (i.e. production, quality, engineering, validation, project management) and external (clients, vendors, consultants) customers to achieve project targets.

  • Provides technical support in developing scope, analyzing, interpreting, and effectively communicating results of drug product formulation and process development studies to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Prepare SOPs, protocols, batch records, and reports. Meet timelines and perform work according to the stage-appropriate quality system.

The Candidate

  • Degree in chemistry, engineering, pharmaceutical science or related discipline; PhD and 0- 2 years of related experience; MS and 4 -6 years of related experience, bachelors and 7-9 years related experience

  • Prior experience with pharmaceutical product development is required

  • Prior experience with development of nasal spray drug products, metered dose inhalers (MDI), dry powder inhaler (DPI), or other combination drug products is ideal.

  • Ability to analyze data in support of technical and regulatory documents.

  • Must have previous experience working in a cGMP environment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical progress to senior internal and external stakeholders both through written and oral communications.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Project, Powerpoint, Word, and Excel.

This person will be responsible for analyzing the revenue growth/savings impact of various projects and supporting leadership in making decisions about where to invest platform development resources and when.
