The Knowledge Systems Group at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking a Scientist (PhD new grads encouraged to apply!) to take the lead on ongoing translational projects. The Scientist will contribute to our applied precision cancer medicine platforms, focused on mining of cancer genomic datasets and enabling precision medicine initiatives at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

  • Drive research and analysis of data from ImmunoProfile, a novel immunotherapy biomarker profiling assay. Support the process of validating ImmunoProfile as a clinical test to guide clinical decision making.

  • Lead collaborations between MatchMiner, our open-source clinical trial matching platform, and clinical groups at Dana-Farber, including: develop and maintain relationships with clinical collaborators and stakeholders; determine clinical needs and work with development team to define solutions.

  • Opportunity to significantly contribute to other ongoing projects, depending on applicant interest. Potential projects include: training and outreach for MatchMiner; perform impact/outcomes analysis of MatchMiner and write manuscript; development of novel data visualization software for genomic data.


  • PhD in biology, genomics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field required. New PhD graduates welcome to apply

  • Prior experience in cancer genomics, including the clinical application of cancer genomics, highly preferred

  • Experience with genomic data science, including some scripting or programming, preferably in Python highly preferred

We identify and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways that could be inhibited or enhanced. Our goal is to isolate a compound that is effective against a disease target. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Scientist with a background in functional genomics to join our Discovery Oncology group at our Company's Boston Site. You will design and execute experiments in the laboratory to discover novel targets and to advance drug discovery programs from target validation through clinical candidates. An ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues in the discovery group as well as scientists from different disciplines will be essential. Primary Responsibilities: The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Perform genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screens to identify novel targets as well as mechanisms of action, sensitization, and resistance to therapeutics agents. * Develop new methods using CRISPR technology to enable the broad use of genetic screening and validation. * Ensure data generated is communicated in a concise, easy to understand manner to the appropriate teams and stakeholders. * Monitor, review and critically interpret published work to guide internal research as it pertains to genetic perturbation. * Collaborate with discovery oncology, pharmacology and genomics/pharmacogenomics to develop and integrate enabling technology and pursue key biological questions. Education Minimum Requirements: * The ideal candidate will have a BS/MS degree in the biological sciences, with 1-5 years of experience in the area of cancer biology, molecular biology, or related area. Required Experience and Skills: * Expertise in mammalian cell culture. * Expertise in CRISPR/Cas9 genetic perturbation with lentivirus and RNP delivery. * Expertise in cell and molecular biology techniques including RT-PCR, western blot, flow cytometry, and proliferation/cytotoxicity/apoptosis assays. * Candidate should be a strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and with a demonstrated ability to work independently to design experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot, and suggest next steps. * Excellent organization and ability to multi-task and contribute to multiple projects. * Committed to working in a collaborative manner across functional areas within a matrixed organization. Preferred Experience and Skills: * Experience performing genome-wide functional genomics screens. * Fluency in analytic techniques necessary for analysis of screen data. * Background in immunology and experience working with primary immune cells is preferred but not required.
