The Biotherapeutics Development-Analytical Development (BTD-AD) discovers and develops creative large molecule solutions to address significant unmet medical needs in oncology, immunology, neuroscience, infectious diseases and vaccines, and cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

The Analytical Development organization is continuing to build key scientific expertise in protein and vaccine characterization, and primary structure elucidation. Are you a hardworking scientist willing to bring your expertise to exciting efforts in novel areas of protein characterization?

You will join the Primary Structure team within the Characterization group in the BTD-AD department to conduct product characterization and process development activities. Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Operate state-of-the-art LC and MS instrumentation

  • Learn and utilize different software packages for LCMS/protein analysis

  • Perform LCMS-based quantitation of post-translational modifications

  • Design and execute peptide mapping / MS experiments on monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins to assess sequence coverage and sites of modification

  • Contribute to IND, IMPD, BLA, and other regulatory filings

  • Develop/optimize assays, write protocols, reports

  • Oversee testing to support analytical development, manufacturing process development, process validations, and manufacturing investigations

  • Lead or facilitate technical discussions and participate in cross-functional teams at project-related meetings

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or a related discipline with relevant experience OR an MS with at least 5 years of relevant experience is requried

  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS is required

  • Experience with MS characterization of proteins is preferred

  • Competency at developing, optimizing and trouble-shooting assays is required

  • Experience maintaining high quality documentation, analyzing and properly interpreting data, and preparing reports, SOPs or other technical reports is requried

  • A Deep understanding and experience in the application of various GXP concepts is preferred

We are seeking to hire a highly energetic and collaborative senior associate scientist, with demonstrated expertise in both Quality Control/Quality Assurance and Analytical Development to join our CAR-T gene therapy team. This position will also ensure continuity of specific analytical operations during second shift working hours. The individual will be responsible for: * Review of analytical documentation including raw data associated with in-process, comparability, release/stability testing and regulatory filings. * Generation and data verification of analytical test methods, qualification/validation, transfer protocols and reports * Generation and data verification of qualification reports and certificates of analysis for critical reagents * Establish method performance and reagent trending procedures * Perform GMP testing, following appropriate SOPs and work procedures. * Accurately capturing data in a timely manner, ensuring data integrity and protocol compliance * Utilize electronic systems (LIMS, MES, LES, Empower, etc.) * Execute analytical method qualifications, validations and transfers * Execute change control processes with guidance from supervisor/management * Complete corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) as assigned * Complete invalid assay and general laboratory investigation records * Maintain individual training completion in a compliant state * Maintaining defined CAR-T analytical operations during second shift working hours Qualifications * Master's degree in biology, immunology or other relevant scientific field, with at least 4 years of experience within the biologic, biopharmaceutical, or regulated pharmaceutical industry in Quality Assurance/Quality Control function reviewing Analytical testing data, AND at least 2 years analytical method development experience is required * Experience working in a cGMP environment is required * Broad compliance knowledge (cGMP, ICH, FDA/EU guidance, WHO) as it applies to the evaluation of technical documents for analytical methods is required * Analytical method development experience in a BSL2, GxP laboratory is required. * Experience with basic biological laboratory techniques such as flow cytometry, PCR, cell-based bioassays, ELISA are required * Technical understanding of CAR-T, virus, or other cell and gene therapy products is preferred * Working knowledge of LabWare LIMS and/or other QC data systems, as well as appropriate GMP quality systems (e.g. eSOPs, etc.) is required. * Excellent communication skills * This role is based in Malvern, PA and may require up to 10% of domestic travel.
