Overview

Waters Corporation is thrilled to offer an exciting Scientist 2 opportunity to join our R&D team within Cell and Gene Portfolio in Chemistry and Lab Automation Department.

In this role, you will play a key part in implementing project developing chromatography consumables to better characterize cell and gene therapy drugs and substances. The successful candidate will also contribute significantly to scale up chemical synthesis processes and transfer the processes to manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Scale up chemical synthesis process.

  • Work with senior investigators on research and development of new chromatography stationary phases.

  • Stay up-to-date literature in your research area.

  • Accurately detail research findings.

  • Comply with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements.

Qualifications

  • MS with 1-3 years and BS with 3-5 years of work experience after graduation with a major in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.

  • Experience with chemical synthesis process scale up and transfer to manufacturing is required.

  • Must be able to implement synthesis experiments independently following procedures with some supervision.

  • Become comfortable with operating >10L reactors and heavy equipment (~20 lbs) on occasional cases.

  • Candidate with a background in any of the following areas will be preferred: (1) organic/inorganic particle synthesis; (2) surface modification; (3) protein immobilization.

  • Good documentation skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.

  • Ability to work well in a group environment.

  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft software.

  • Able to safely work in chemical synthesis lab. #LI-CB1
