ABOUT SINGULAR GENOMICS

Singular Genomics is inventing at the forefront of genomics, one of the world's fastest-growing industries. The commercially available G4 Sequencing Platform is a powerful, highly versatile benchtop genomic sequencer designed to produce fast and accurate results. In addition, the company is currently developing the G4X Spatial Sequencer, an upgrade to the G4, which will leverage Singular's proprietary sequencing technology, applying it as an in-situ readout for transcriptomics, proteomics, and fluorescent H&E in tissue, with spatial context. Singular Genomics' mission is to empower researchers and clinicians to advance science and medicine.

We foster a culture of creativity and technical excellence, both catalysts for innovation. We celebrate diversity, emphasize collaboration and, as we rapidly mature, we are constantly looking at ways we can do better for our people.

Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley. This role reports to our Headquarters location.

Position Summary: We are seeking a Scientist 2 or Senior Scientist to join our Molecular Biology team. This interdisciplinary team is at the forefront of developing innovative methods and reagents for spatial multi-omics and next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows. The candidate will play a crucial role in pioneering cutting-edge technologies, focusing on the development of reagents and the implementation of a groundbreaking technology that facilitates direct RNA sequencing at subcellular resolution within cells and tissue sections.

What you will do:

  • Devise and develop novel molecular biology methods to support the commercialization of kits and consumables for innovative multi-omic in-situ sequencing techniques.

  • Develop and optimize workflows and reagent formulations for direct sequencing at subcellular resolution.

  • Lead the design of experiments, including experimental execution, data analysis, and presentation of results; recommend future directions based on outcomes.

  • Contribute to the expansion of the company's intellectual property portfolio.

  • Facilitate the transition of consumables from the research phase to production and commercial release.

  • Collaborate closely with multiple teams, including Bioinformatics, Protein Engineering, Systems Integration, and Surface Chemistry.

Qualifications:

  • Scientist 2 is Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with at least 2 years of relevant industry experience (may include postdoc work).

  • Senior Scientist is Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience (may include postdoc work).

  • Proven experience in method and reagent development for advanced molecular biology techniques.

  • Hands-on expertise with a range of molecular biology techniques and protocols, including Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), and nucleic acid analysis and amplification methods.

  • Familiarity with fluorescence microscopy, Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (FISH), and handling tissue sections; prior experience is highly advantageous.

  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality scientific research, as evidenced by a track record of exemplary scientific contributions.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex results clearly across interdisciplinary teams.

  • Experience in product development and bringing products to market in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is preferred.
