At Personalis, we are transforming the active management of cancer through breakthrough personalized testing. We aim to drive a new paradigm for cancer management, guiding care from biopsy through the life of the patient. Our highly sensitive assays combine tumor-and-normal profiling with proprietary algorithms to deliver advanced insights even as cancer evolves over time. Our products are designed to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) and recurrence at the earliest timepoints, enable selection of targeted therapies based on ultra-comprehensive genomic profiling, and enhance biomarker strategy for drug development. Personalis is based in Fremont, California.

Summary:

The Scientific Project Manager will coordinate project planning and operations and to liaise with customers for project support. The Scientific Project Manager will ensure proper communication to drive the project through completion within timeline, quality, and budgetary constraints. The Scientific Project Manager will also have the opportunity to supervise, mentor, and develop Associate Project Managers and other Project Management staff such as temporary employees or contractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a point of contact for internal teams and external customers.

  • Coordinate logistics for biological sample procurement.

  • Supports operations by using internal systems to perform quality control on data deliverables.

  • Ensure that projects remain on schedule and within budget, are appropriately resourced, and meet quality standards according to SOPs, GLP, CLIA and/or other Regulatory requirements/guidelines.

  • Prepare, edit, and update project timelines and documentation (i.e. required forecasting, budget, deliverables, reports, agendas, minutes, tracking sheets, etc.) to ensure successful execution and completion of outlined deliverables.

  • Develop, optimize and enhance ways of data extraction using existing databases and tools for ad hoc reporting. Extracted data will be used in Custom reporting and/or Deviations, Non conformances, Sample performance and TAT performance models to support efficient and accurate data analysis and reporting.

  • Provide continuous communications and project updates to stakeholders and will be in a customer facing position.

  • Collaborates with service providers, serving as a primary point of contact for internal and external teams regarding progress on project/program goals.

  • Proactively identifies issues and drives the team to find solutions. Develops contingency and troubleshooting plans as needed.

  • Manage and mentor Associate Project Managers and other Project Management staff, such as temporary employees or contractors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in life sciences or related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience in the life sciences/biotech industry (e.g. CRO or Academia)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the overall workflow from sample procurement, through processing, analysis, results delivery, and customer follow-up.

  • Experience in biological sample management.

  • Understanding of laboratory information systems (LIMS) related to sample processing and management.

  • Ability to prioritize, and analyze workflows for results. Good time management, decision-making, presentation, and organization skills required.

  • Strong understanding of data analytics concepts, tools and trackers.

  • Experience in Python, R, SQL, Postgres, relational databases.

  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels both within and outside the company in order to establish credibility with professionals on the project and functional teams.

  • Proven ability/expertise to influence internal teams and outside service providers to achieve project goals.

  • Strong computer proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint

  • Experience with project management software and Unix is a plus

  • Familiarity with CLIA/CAP/GLP requirements a plus

The hiring range for this position is $100,000 to $125,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
