The Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases (NITD) is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, NITD is dedicated to fighting parasitic infectious diseases of high medical need in a dynamic working environment. NITD is an Institute within the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR), and as such has full access to NIBR know-how and resources. NITD is renowned for applying cutting-edge technologies to the discovery of high quality clinical candidates for the treatment of neglected diseases. As part of the pharmacology group, the role of a Scientific Associate is to independently perform in vivo and in vitro research to support the selection and development of therapeutic agents for tropical diseases.
Development and validation of preclinical models of tropical diseases
Design and conduct experiments to assess pharmacodynamics and efficacy of therapeutic candidates in preclinical models.
Partner with project teams to determine testing strategy
Perform data collection, analysis, documentation, and interpretation
What you'll bring to the role:
Bachelors/Masters in pharmacology, biomedical science or related discipline.
Hands-on experience in establishing and working with in vivo and in vitro pharmacology models
Proficiency in experimental design, data interpretation and statistical analysis.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to function collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team setting
Experience in parasitology, immunology and an understanding of pharmacodymamics and pharmacokinetics
Hands on molecular biology and flow cytometry experience
