The Scientific and Medical Assessment (SMA) Lead position for the CMO office is expected to:
Review scientifically and medically the Global Functional and Strategic Plans and related documents, ie. Integrated Development and Medical Plans, and, Integrated Evidence Generation and Life Cycle Management Plans, taking into account the evolving healthcare environment, to maximize the value and generate evidence that is useful to the key stakeholders, including the medical community, and to allow informed healthcare decisions regarding SA products and to ultimately improve patient care and outcomes.
Partner with Research & Development and Global Business Units (GBUs), and work with the Global Project Leads, Brand Leads and Medical Leads, Global and Regional, and other key functional leads as needed, to provide guidance on the development and implementation of Functional and Strategic Plans, and to assist in identifying the skills necessary within the project teams and brand teams, including medical organization, related to the development and implementation of their strategic plans
Prepare medical and clinical assessments for DWG (Development Working Group), IDC (Integrated Development Committee), and PFR (Portfolio Review) and upon request for BRAC (Benefit Risk Assessment Committee), TARC (Therapeutic Area Review Committee) and EWG (External Working Group) for potential acquisitions or strategic Alliances, to facilitate informed decision making
Promote integration of Patient insights, RWE, and Health Outcomes and Economics evidence to be provided by concerned units for value creation, and partner with Digital Strategy unit, from clinical and medical perspectives
Suggest new health care solutions for relevant patient segments and regions and, contribute in public health by confirming appropriate and effective use of products and services
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Postgraduate Medical degree desirable, i.e., MD or PhD, at least a bachelor's degree
Medical expertise in one or more of the following SA Therapeutic Areas: Diabetes, Cardiovascular, Oncology, Immuno-mediated Diseases, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Rare Diseases, Vaccines, as well as Public Health expertise
A minimum of 5 years of scientific and medical experience in drug development and/or medical affairs in pharmaceutical industry (5-10 years desired)
Good understanding of marketing and market access mechanisms, eg. Master of Business Administration degree
Strategic thinking and ability to recognize opportunities into new promising health care directions, and to make maximum use of synergies
High capability to work and achieve results with quality orientation
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to provide clear and direct guidance
High achievement orientation and ability to work along agreed timelines with focus on execution
