IvyTech is looking for an individual that is, not only qualified to teach biology and chemistry, but also has innovative ideas for content delivery, STEM-based project learning, and utilization of Web 2.0 tools. Being a public school means IvyTech services students of all demographics, so all applicants should feel comfortable working with both high achievers, as wells as at-promise students. This position also requires the applicant to work in an advisory capacity for a cohort of students. As the teacher monitors student progress, they maintain lines of communication between the school, the student, and their family. As an advisor, the employee helps direct the student towards resources the school provides and encourages the learner to keep up with deadlines. IvyTech's schedule during the school year also offers teachers the flexibility and opportunity to develop elective courses. Applicants are encouraged to highlight any extracurricular interests/skill sets they may have and would want to create into an elective. The school currently hosts teacher-created electives in 3D Printing, baking, cooking, fencing, and programming/game design. The school has materials and resources for a recording studio, maker space, and robotics programs, as well.
