The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check. A $49.00 fingerprinting fee will be charged once hired.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

To collaborate with the Elementary Science Coordinator, Elementary Science Specialists, and elementary staff in order to receive, store, issue and deliver science materials, equipment, tools, and supplies, maintain inventory control, and perform required record keeping.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Organize and build pallets of science modules for distribution to campuses.

  • Organize and maintain Science Materials Center warehouse.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of science modules in the Science Materials Center warehouse and main warehouse.

  • Breakdown pallets and organize modules for refurbishing.

  • Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and handcart.

  • Handle multiple tasks that consider the needs of the campuses and materials available, as well as, partner with Warehouse staff to prioritize the work.

  • Assist in the purchasing of materials.

  • Stock, distribute, prepare, and inventory science materials.

  • Assist in the building and refurbishing of science modules.

  • Care for living materials as needed.

  • Deliver science materials from the Science Materials Center to campuses as required.

  • Collaborate with Science Materials Senior Specialist, Elementary Science Coordinator and Specialists, Plant Services, and other district staff to support science at the district and campus level.

  • Assist with the receiving of materials and supplies from outside vendors.

  • Supports temporary refurbishing technicians.

  • Plan and facilitate job tasks for students.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and report unsafe conditions to lead or supervisor.

  • Abide by district and state policies and guidelines.

  • Maintain timely communication.

  • Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.

  • Fork lift certification preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and use computer and to handle multiple tasks.

Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands

  • Must be able to move science modules and materials (up to 50 pounds).

  • Prolonged standing, regular bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, reaching, lifting, and twisting

  • Frequently moves items weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder

  • Constantly positions self to be able to reach items on ground or above head

  • May be exposed to high or low outside temperatures

  • Work in hot, dry, and dusty conditions as well as possibly cold, wet, and damp areas.

  • Will work near or with moving mechanical equipment.

  • Ability to problem-solve and think ahead

  • Ability to apply common sense in performing job.

  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.

  • Use standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

  • Manage stressful situations, frequent interruptions, and changes in work priorities.

  • Maintain composure and professionalism at all times.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To support the communications department with strong written, public relations and media relations skills, event planning skills and strategies for identifying, capturing and sharing the stories of LISD. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES * Contribute to the communications team's projects with writing, editing, design and layout skills for newsletters, pamphlets, brochures, reports and other publications for internal and external audiences. * Identify stories on campuses and departments that can be shared in written and/or digital formats that further the LISD brand and goals. * Assist in managing the district and campus websites as well as the district social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), by analyzing success and engagement of posts, providing timely content and facilitating advertising spend. * Plan, design and oversee student, staff and community recognition programs and events. * Proactively seek ways to recognize students, staff and volunteers. * Plan and support the School Community Relations department, the district and other departments' programs of community engagement activities and forums. * Manage design projects with outside professionals employed on assignment contracts. Establish budgets, timelines and deliverables to coordinate projects for departments and schools across LISD. * Model core organizational values and beliefs; communicate openly and effectively within and across teams; and manage resources to effectively support district goals. * Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters. * Keep abreast of innovative practices. * Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. * Assist with the preparation of quarterly activity reports. * Assist in media relations by facilitating media requests. * Cross-train with other members of the communications team. * Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance. * Perform other duties as assigned. GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES Education/Certification/Experience: * Bachelors degree in in journalism or comparable communications field or equivalent combination of training/experience to demonstrate ability to do the job. * Experience in communication, preferably in public education. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Knowledge of a variety of audio/visual and video equipment, digital editing software; in computer graphic design for print and web; and Adobe Creative Suite. * Skill in writing, editing, grammar and AP style; in desktop publishing (InDesign) and word processing; effective organizational communication, interpersonal skills; organization; proofreading; and photography. * Ability to detect, analyze and solve technical problems; work multiple projects simultaneously; meet strict time deadlines; work under high stress; attend late night board meetings; accommodate last-minute demands for audio/visual services; and be available to work on evenings or weekends, if necessary. Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands * Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. * Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. * Frequently communicates with other employees or public.
