As a Program Coordinator for the SC Highway Patrol Personnel Services Unit, employee will manage the law enforcement career path pay plan, process personnel action requests for Highway Patrol employees, calculate law enforcement time and rank for new employees/rehires, receive and distribute position descriptions from troops/units to the Office of Human Resources, and act as a liaison between the HP Personnel Services Unit and OHR.
Assists in preparation and processing of personnel action requests for all Highway Patrol employees. Receives, reviews, and researches personnel action documentation; collects and compiles all required supporting documents; prepares PAR forms; routes documents for approval and processing; disseminates appropriate notifications; and tracks actions to completion.
Assists with preparing documents for posting civilian job vacancies for the Highway Patrol Division. Works closely with members of the SCDPS Office of Human Resources and Highway Patrol field office personnel to resolve discrepancies and obtain information necessary to process personnel actions.
Manages Highway Patrol advancements and reclassifications in accordance with the SCDPS Law Enforcement Officer Career Path. Determines eligibility dates for reclassifications and step pay increases, requiring review of employment and Criminal Justice Academy certification records.
Maintains an updated roster for these career path advancements and notifies troop/unit commanders of employee eligibility. Works closely with the Highway Patrol Employment Unit to calculate law enforcement service time and rank for new employees and rehires, to include out-of-state service time and eligibility. Requests, receives, reviews, and tracks position descriptions from the troops/units and sends to OHR.
Maintains records in an organized and secure manner in accordance with established retention period. Accurately utilizes databases with Excel formulas.
Maintains confidentiality of employee records and sensitive information. Compiles data as required for statistical reporting, agency accreditation, legal actions, and FOIA requests.

Ability to interpret and apply departmental and state policies, regulations and procedures. Ability to collect, assemble and communicate information in a clear, effective and professional manner.
Ability to plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of procedures and processes. Considerable knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment.
Under general supervision, employee works independently and performs complex duties requiring sound judgement and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential material and in interpreting and applying established policies and procedures.
Additional Comments
Duties are primarily performed in an office setting during daytime hours. Participates in emergency management operations during deployment of essential personnel.
Some physical requirements including light lifting and filing. Performs other duties as required.
