We are looking for a talented student to join our team for our School To Work , Mechanical Engineer in Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

The Cummins-Meritor Cooperative Education Student who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. The student works in support of the engineering department by applying knowledge from academic studies. This person will interface with project engineers, test labs, production manufacturing facilities, and several internal engineering groups. The Co-op Student works under close supervision to learn about aspects of engineering that they can apply after graduation.

• Support engineers on various trailer, front axle, and rear axle projects.

• Perform engineering analysis necessary for the production design and testing of axle/suspension components and systems. This will include the use of CAE tools such as Creo, Simulate, Ansys, etc.

• Support all aspects of engineering to meet customer requirements with focus on project timing, product design, test plans and prototype builds.

• Work with designers to release detailed drawing packages.

• Establish good working relationships with team members, outside suppliers, and various internal groups.

• Semester project to be determined with supervisor and other activities required by supervisor.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Experience in AutoCAD applications and other 3D modeling software, Creo, SolidWorks, etc

• Understanding of vehicular drivetrain components and their application.

• Experience with data analytic tools.

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools preferred.

• Ability to learn on the job in a dynamic environment while balancing multiple priorities.

• Ability to work independently and within teams as needed.

• Demonstrates written and oral communication skills, including presentation creation.

• Strong teamwork and ability to interact with all levels of the organizations.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Education, Licenses, Certification

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering.

• Post-Secondary:

• Must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.

• Must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate from $19.25 and above, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
