Bensenville School District 2 is seeking an individual to coordinate after-school activities for its new RISE Academies

funded through a grant from the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program. Activities will focus on such topics as ..

  • Academic Enrichment

  • Arts Integration

  • Technology

  • Social-Emotional Learning

  • College and Career Readiness

  • Parent and Family Programming

The School Site Coordinator (SSC) will lead the coordination of all program activities within Blackhawk Middle School, Tioga School, and W.A. Johnson Schools.

They will serve as the on-site liaison between the co-principal(s), parents, school staff, project and instructional staff. They, in partnership with the co-principal(s),

and/or school staff, will ensure that the necessary scheduling, logistics and infrastructure support is provided to the project. They will lead participant recruitment efforts,

work with instructional staff and service providers on participant retention, and collaborate with all project team members to ensure program equity, quality and consistency.

They will also work with instructional and project staff to collect reporting and general grant data.

Specific Duties:

  • Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of all RISE program activities within the school site.

  • Maintain positive and effective communication lines with and between the principal, assistant principal, school staff, parents, students, project and instructional staff, and partners.

  • With the support of the co-principal(s) and staff, coordinate logistics and facilitate appropriate infrastructure support.

  • In partnership with school leadership, responsible for successful recruitment and retention of students and parents in the program.

  • Assist the student and parent/family instructors with programming and provide on-site leadership and support during the after-school student component and at family workshops and activities.

  • Coordinate with project staff and other School Site Coordinators to ensure program alignment across RISE schools.

  • Assist in data collection efforts.

  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills, Abilities: The ideal School Site Coordinator will be a current or former school parent leader with experience (or the potential to learn and be successful)

in after-school and parent/family programming. They will have strong experience and familiarity with the school community and the ability to work with multiple program stakeholders. They

will have effective written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish. The ideal candidate should possess basic computer skills, be able to navigate across a variety

of situations, and work successfully across a team-based environment.

Work Schedule:

The School Site Coordinator will work an average of 20 hours per week on days the program is in operation.


The School Site Coordinator will receive hourly compensation in the amount of $16.00 per hour.

The project is funded by a grant that began in 2018-2019 and can be renewed for four additional years. Compensation: Annual salary ranging from $29,000 to $35,000 plus medical insurance and other benefits. Summary: The Site Coordinator will support the District's partners who are providing grant-related services at a particular school. They will work closely with families and students to ensure attendance, recruitment, and retention. They will work with the Lead Site Coordinator to obtain data for grant-reporting purposes. The Full Service Community Schools Project: The position is part of the District's Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) Project. This is a five-year grant-funded project in which the District and its partner agencies will provide educational, social, and health services for students, families, and the community. The project goals are to increase academic outcomes, improve school climate and increase capacity to address academic and nonacademic barriers to student learning. Funding is confirmed through September 2019. Funding for four additional years is expected, subject to annual approval from the US Department of Education. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: * Support the planning, coordination, scheduling and implementation of all FSCS program activities at the school site. * Assist teachers and other District staff to obtain services and programs from partners to support District learning objectives. * Support the Lead Site Coordinator in soliciting parent, teacher, and community input regarding parent educational needs. * Recruit and retain students and parents to participate in the FSCS Project. * Provide on-site leadership and support during FSCS programming. * Coordinate with project staff and other School Site Coordinators to ensure program alignment across FSCS schools. * Assist in the data collection and needs assessment process. * Work with school personnel and FSCS partners to select and prepare facility locations to conduct programs. Qualifications: * Education: Bachelor's degree preferred. * Experiences: * Working with diverse and/or high-need populations. * Program design, management and coordination. * Community organizing experience preferred. * Abilities: * Keep accurate records, analyze data, and prepare reports. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Able to prioritize strategically and coordinate multiple tasks. * Spanish language skills preferred. * Positive, proactive approach to problem solving * Able to work in a team-oriented environment and facilitate partnerships between school, community, post-secondary, civic and governmental constituencies. * Experienced in Microsoft Office and Google Docs Physical Demands: * Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. * Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. * May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds. * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
