  • Work Schedule:

  • Permanent float position - will cover campuses throughout Austin Independent School District; Every effort is made to assign to campuses within area of town person is living in.

  • Mondays - Fridays, follows AISD school calendar.

  • Hours matching school campus type (Elementary 0730-1530, Middle school 0800-1600, High school 0830-1630); Follows school calendar, with teacher in-service days also requiring attendance. Total work days for the school year between 188 and 194 days, depending on school calendar options. No compensation for extended school breaks (fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break) although opportunities to work with other Ascension departments as PRN or float pool is an option*

What You Will Do

As an Associate with the Seton Family of Hospitals-TX, you will have the opportunity to provide direct nursing care to students within a school system.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the assessment, implementation and evaluation of student care. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

  • Oversees student care while at school. Delegates tasks to unlicensed personnel within scope of license.

  • Participates in the surveillance and prevention of communicable diseases. Complies with reporting guidelines.

  • Educates students, family members and faculty. Promotes a wellness environment and ensures the health, comfort and safety of students.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

Work Experience:

  • Preferred experience with pediatric population

  • Preferred experience in Home Health Care or Outpatient Clinic
