General Description: Facilitate and monitor the evaluation process of Randolph Public School students, while providing diagnostic and consultative services, including psychometric assessment in cognitive and achievement areas. The School Psychologist/Team Facilitator will be responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to IDEA 2004.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of students referred for an initial evaluation or reevaluation. Assessments may include psychological, achievement, and others deemed necessary for learning disabilities.

  • Interpret assessment findings to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents, and when appropriate students aged 14- older. Put interpretations into written report prior to team meetings.

  • Make recommendations on ways to assist students in the classroom upon teacher request.

  • Schedule initial and reevaluation meetings; coordinate initial and reevaluation meetings process with parents and school personnel.

  • Facilitate the process of evaluation of students

  • Monitor utilization of Parent's Notice of Procedural Safeguards for initial, three year and independent evaluations.

  • Provide file review and summary for initial evaluations.*

  • Obtain consent to evaluate.

  • Complete and summarize observation of student.

  • Monitor regulator compliance regarding participation of identified students in MCAS and other standardized assessments.

  • Facilitate and monitor placement process.

  • Monitor placement in least restrictive program.

  • Facilitate parent participation in meetings.

  • Monitor procedures for discipline of special needs students.

  • Chair Manifestation Determination meetings.

  • Participate in expulsion/exclusion hearings.

  • Monitor and facilitate provision of free and appropriate public education for identified students.

  • Facilitate communication.

  • Chair, monitor and/or facilitate evaluation/IEP /placement meetings.

  • Attend scheduled special education district-wide meetings, psychologist team chair meetings.

  • Collaborate with building administration regarding the provision of special education functions.

  • Initiate scheduling of initial/three year Team Meetings.

  • Provide liaison support between the central special education office and individual schools.

  • Initiate special transportation requests to the special education office.

  • Facilitate and monitor compliance with state and federal mandates as well as local processes and procedures.

  • Provide documentation to and participate in due process proceedings.

  • Maintain knowledge of state and federal law as well as adhere to LEA procedures, processes and policies.

  • Utilize the existing eSped to assure appropriate documentation of services.

  • Follow LEA procedures for the documentation of developing appropriate IEP's, initiating reviews and reevaluations, obtaining parent consent and approval and distributing data to various service providers and regular education staff as appropriate.

  • Function in the capacity of LEA representative in a manner that assures fiscal responsibility & provision of FAPE in the least restrictive environment feasible.

  • Monitor implementation of accommodations/modifications of students with disabilities

  • Perform all other duties as deemed necessary & assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and Director of Special Education.

Terms per the Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement and includes an additional 5% salary differential for an 8 hour work day.
