Job Summary:

From initial referral through intervention (IEP) and follow-up stages. Consultation responsibilities

include behavior management, instructional programming, program development and evaluation.

Position requires direct and comprehensive clinical service to K-12 students, such as group

intervention, individual counseling and work with families and parents. Provides input to district

staff regarding EL education and relationship to special education.

Essential Job Functions:

Works collaboratively with building staff as a team member to identify and implement intervention strategies prior to referral to special education.

Conducts the cognitive and psycho-educational portion of the student's assessment plan using appropriate test instruments, diagnostic interviews, consultations and classroom observations.

Functions as a team member to help coordinate special education staffing conferences (IEP) with other professionals to help determine possible eligibility, student placements and appropriate related services.

Writes clear and concise reports to communicate the results of the Psycho-Educational Evaluation to parents, teachers, school administrators and community partners such as DD services and Mental Health.

Documents student progress, writes assessment reports and three-year reevaluation reports and attends required meetings.

Participates in IEP meetings where the results of the multidisciplinary evaluation and educational recommendations are shared with the school personnel and parents of students referred for determination of eligibility for special education.

Provides inservice materials and information to district staff regarding ELL, behavior management, and specific disabilities.

Ensures that due process paperwork and procedures are completed as mandated by District, State and Federal guidelines.

Responsible for being familiar with the school/district policies and procedures which govern the work.

Prompt and regular attendance is required.

Other Job Functions:

Performs other tasks as assigned.

Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Participates in various meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one's skills/knowledge.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Qualifications:

Hold or qualify for an Oregon Personnel Services License

  • School Psychologist.

Must be fingerprinted and pass the Oregon Department of Education & FBI criminal background check.

Knowledge of school systems (experience working in school settings preferred).

Experience in identification of and program planning for students with significant behavioral problems.

Full assessments range: LD, ED, ID, OHI, ADHD, TAG, TBI, FBA and BSP.

Strong communication skills necessary for working with children, parents, staff, administration, and community agencies.

Classroom teaching experience preferred but not required.

Bilingual Spanish/English skills are desirable.

Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously as a team member.

Ability to plan, organize, and work without close supervision.

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District personnel and the public.

Maintains confidential information and the privacy of District staff, students, and families.

Carries out work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and new or emergency situations.

Ability to work with a diverse population.

Ability to respect confidential information.

Computer skills to include use of word processing programs, database programs and the Google Suite of products.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; and use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment varies but is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of licensed staff.
