DISTRICT PSYCHOLOGIST Job Description: Under the supervision of the Director of District Services, assesses students referred to special education, reports results of assessment at Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings, determines if students qualify for special education services, assists in developing appropriate special education placements, service goals and educational strategies, and provides personal counseling services as deemed appropriate.

Typical Responsibilities: 1. Attend Student Study Team meetings as requested by site administrators and act as a consultant to teachers, parents and principals in the development of accommodations and modifications appropriate for referred students. 2. Review special education referrals for completeness and accuracy, and as needed inform the principal and resource specialist of the need for additional information. 3.

Assess students referred to special education, write a collaborative report for the school psychologist and the Resource Specialist. Report results of assessment at Individual Education Program (IEP) meeting. 4. Play a key role on the IEP team in deciding if students qualify for special education services based on qualifying criteria and, if so, guide the IEP team in the development of appropriate placement, goals and objectives for the service. 5.

Conference with teachers and parents as needed concerning the content of psychological reports and recommendations therein. Recommend the appropriateness of supplemental instructional materials, methodology, modality, which contribute to the implementation of the IEP. 6. Be legally informed of related laws and SELPA procedures for special education.

Provide recommendations to the Principals and Director of District Services on compliance with state and federal laws. 7. Serve as a key member of the District Crisis and Suicide Intervention Team in responding to a crisis within the school district and as a member of the County Crisis Response Team when requested by the Director of District Services. 8. Be knowledgeable about San Joaquin County agencies such as Mental Health, Valley Mountain Regional Services, Department of Rehabilitation, and others in order to serve as a link between these agencies and Ripon Unified staff, parents and students. 9.

Provide staff development activities to both special education and regular education staff concerning psychological services, special education procedures, and accommodation activities. 10. Be available for personal counseling services for students as deemed necessary and appropriate. 11. Other duties as assigned.

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Educational Services Assignment: 190 days per year Salary: Determined by the Board of Trustees
