Job Summary Job Summary WEST COVINA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCES OPENINGS FOR School Psychologist Interns 6 hours per day/5 days per week August 2024 - June 2025 POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of a credentialed school psychologist, the intern will assess and complete psychoeducational evaluations so as facilitate the development of effective educational programs designs to meet individual student needs. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple cases concurrently

• Ability to develop and maintain positive rapport with students, parents, staff and to interact effectively with a variety of audiences

• Actively participate in assigned site team meetings

• Through use of techniques and resources utilized in assessing, evaluation, and diagnosing conduct psychoeducational assessments of referred pupils, identify student needs, and recommend supportive services

• Consult with school personnel regarding children with emotional and behavioral issues and assist teachers in using the principles of behavior management and other useful techniques in the classroom

• Provide assistance to support teams in writing a student's Individual Education Plan

• Provide consultation and assistance to teachers regarding attainment of IEP goals

• Prepare written and oral reports providing detailed analysis of pupils' psychological and behavioral challenges

• Assess the counseling needs of identified special education pupils, develop and implement appropriate IEP counseling goals
