Purpose

Provides psychoeducational services to students with disabilities within local public and nonpublic schools, and assists with the development of plans which enable children to attain achievement standards and independent skills.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of Master's Degree in Educational or School psychology with a successful school psychology internship

  • Hold and maintain current licensure as School Psychologist in the State of Indiana

  • Possess a basic knowledge of special education laws and regulations and can follow developed procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Conducts diagnostic evaluations to identify students' needs, potential and limitations by:

o observing in classrooms and/or in social situations,

o reviewing all pertinent school records,

o consulting with parents and school personnel,

o administering diagnostic instruments,

o interpreting the results and

  • The School Psychologist serves in a leadership role during the referral process to:

o gather records,

o distribute information and

o initiate the referral process,

o facilitate the record review, and

  • Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team for students undergoing an evaluation and coordinates resources to assure a comprehensive educational evaluation is completed

  • Participates on the intervention team(s) for at-risk students considered for an evaluation. Work collaboratively with the Building Principal to determine the need to be involved in Response to Instruction/Intervention (RTI) planning and meetings

  • Provides diagnostic information to assist pupils to achieve personal academic, social and emotional growth

  • Provides diagnostic information to assist pupils to achieve personal academic, social and emotional growth

  • Refers individuals to community agencies to secure medical, vocational, mental health or social services

  • Conducts reevaluations for children eligible for special education services

  • Provides ongoing professional development for school and community when requested

  • Serves as consultant to school principals, parents and teachers in matters involving psychological services in the school and community

  • Completes all education reports and paperwork accurately according to regulations and procedures within the required timeline

  • Collaborates with school personnel on Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) as needed

  • Conducts one-on-one or small group activities for academic and/or behavioral purposes as an RTI intervention and as time permits

  • Serves as a resource and makes recommendations to school personnel pertaining to:

o the management of pupils in the school environment,

o educational adjustments to meet the needs of children, and

o services of children in special education

  • Collaborates in the evaluation of the academic and behavior management programs using data to recommend interventions

  • Follows and informs others of IDEA and Article 7 rules and regulations as well as district policies and procedures

  • Provides building-wide or individual crisis interventions when needed or requested

  • Attends all diagnostic staff meetings and building staff meetings as appropriate

  • Maintains a log of diagnostic and intervention activities

  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift and/or push up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Terms of Employment:

Contract Term: 185 Days

Salary and Benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
