POSITION SUMMARY: This position focuses on developing the capacity of our early intervention program's Multi-Disciplinary teams to conduct initial evaluations and re-evaluations. This role provides ongoing training, coaching and consultation to early intervention staff to assist in the evidence-based writing and implementation of Individual Education Plans, including data-based goal writing, data collection tools, plans for monitoring of progress and strategies for effective instruction. This position utilizes the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to determine the function of behavior, as well as drive interventions for behavior change and make program recommendations that aligns with best practice.


  • Conduct cross-battery assessments for children to determine eligibility and need for early intervention services

  • Build the capacity of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation/Individual Education Plan (MDE/IEP) teams to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and use function-based thinking to understand the nature of social/emotional/behavioral skill deficits through use of modeling, clinical reviews and training sessions

  • Support MDE/IEP and Service Coordination (SC) departments in evaluating and making recommendations for children with behavioral needs, including the support of MDE/IEP teams in developing appropriate strategies for children with unique behavioral needs, providing in-the-moment behavior support and attending IEP meetings to provide insight and support to teams and families

  • Utilize current research in the field to make sound recommendations regarding evidence-based practices

  • Provide ongoing training and consultation to MDE/IEP teams, as well as Service Coordination, in the areas of Applied Behavior Analysis, research-based strategies, integrated models of therapy, autism spectrum disorder, and other areas as needed

  • Support the use of visual supports and other empirically-validated strategies during evaluations to assist teams in more effectively evaluating students of a variety of functioning levels. Other supports during evaluations might include but not be limited to the use of task analysis, transition warnings (timers, countdowns, visuals, etc.), token economies, and positive reinforcement

  • Provide training and coaching/consultation for MDE/IEP teams including, but not limited to:

  • Critiquing the existing assessment process and interaction with, and support for, families

  • Applied Behavior Analysis and behavior support strategies

  • Application of research-based decision making and strategies

  • Tools for behavioral evaluations (i.e.: VB Mapp, ABLLS, DECA)

  • Options for city-wide programming

  • IDEA, Act 212 and Special Education Law

  • Evidence-Based Practices

  • Dynamic Assessment

  • IEP Content: Present Levels/Goals/SDIs

  • Work collaboratively with families, early intervention staff and community members to develop well-rounded, research-based IEPs for children with special needs

  • Work collaboratively with families to provide community-based supports and resources to assist the family in navigating the special education system

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Certified School Psychologist

  • Fluent knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), BCBA preferred

  • Three (3) years' clinical experience working directly with pre-school aged children

  • Working knowledge of:

  • Assessment processes and best practices for interacting with and supporting families

  • Applied Behavior Analysis and behavior support strategies

  • Application of research-based decision making and strategies

  • Tools for behavioral evaluations (i.e.: VB Mapp, ABLLS, DECA)

  • Options for city-wide programming

  • IDEA, Act 212 and Special Education Law

  • Evidence-Based Practices

  • Dynamic Assessment

  • IEP Content: Present Levels/Goals/SDIs

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Must possess excellent interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in training development and facilitation preferred

  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Publisher and report-writer experience preferred

We are currently seeking a PA school certified psychologist for full-time work with the Philadelphia Non-Public schools for the 2021-2022 school year. School psychologists work with students in grades K-12, providing psychological evaluations and determining services in accordance with Pennsylvania state law, IDEA guidelines, and Catapult Learning policy and procedures. Salary range = $65-75/hr. Responsibilities * Consultation and collaboration with school staff, families, and students. * Participate in an assessment plan meeting of students assigned for an initial or re-evaluation. * Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations that include, but are not limited to, assessments of intellectual, developmental, academic, social/emotional and behavioral status. * Interpret assessment results, create written evaluation report, and submit written report to all designated contacts within the required timeframe. * Lead assessment feedback meetings to review assessment results/findings/recommendations with all applicable parties present. * Maintain student caseload in compliance with state timelines and other state and company guidance. * Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner. * Comply with all Catapult Learning and school district policies and procedures. Qualifications * Active Pennsylvania school certification in psychology * Must have or be willing to obtain all current state mandated clearances (Child Abuse, Criminal background checks, Act 126 Certificate, FBI fingerprints, etc.) * Must be willing to travel to schools in Philadelphia where school psychological evaluations are requested As a condition of employment, staff will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit to weekly testing.
